Barcelona to Chamonix

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Mountaineering : One Thread

I would like to visit both Chamonix and Barcelona next summer (july) and would like to know what the best order would be and the distance between the two cities(hours) if travelling by train. Is there an e-mail address for either train station so that I could get information on costs and timetables. thanks, merci, muchas gracias

There is a simpler solution. Fly. There is a very regular train service from Chamonix to Geneva. Check out www.easyjet.com and fly EasyJet. It is one of those budget airlines with no frills, but prices are about £30-£50 ($40 - $70) for a single ticket and fly time is about 1h30. One hint, book as early as possible as these prices explode as the journey date gets closer. As for which place first. They are completely different. Chamonix is amid some of the most beatiful mountains, and Barcelona is a bustling provincial city. Who is to say which should be done first.
