Oh! Louis, Louis ... gotta go now?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

There is no mention on the Official site that Lua Lua has signed - but there was mention on a previous thread here that he had. Does anyone know what's actually happened?

He wasn't playing yesterday so the deal is probably done.

This week`s one to watch:
LOMANO TRESOR LUA LUA
The Zairian forward has greatly impressed in his first full season in the Nationwide league and the rather unusual name of Lomano Tresor Lua Lua should become far more familiar come the 2000-2001 season.

French national Lua Lua was spotted playing for Leyton College in September 1998 and the U's snapped up the highly skilled forward, instantly recognising the teenager's quality.

Their faith was repaid when the pint-sized attacker netted within minutes of his debut as a second-half substitute and the 1999-2000 campaign has seen the youngster continue that trend.

Lua Lua arrived off the bench and scored on no fewer than six occasions for Colchester during the 1999-2000 season, racking up 12 strikes in total.

However, this super-sub has more strings to his bow than just his finishing prowess. From Africa to Essex may not appear to many to be the road to glory, but Lua Lua wowed the Layer Road faithful with hard-working displays intertwined with natural talent.

The U's starlet stroked around almost 1,000 passes - finding a team-mate with an impressive 58% of them - and used his innate footballing vision to create three assists and provide 13 defence-splitting balls, which led to goalscoring opportunities.

Lua Lua also tracked back to good effect and played an integral part at helping his adopted club avoid the dreaded drop by winning 63% of his challenges.

The fact that Colchester did fight off relegation and will be plying their trade in the second division rather than the basement league during the 2000-2001 season may well aid Lua Lua's seemingly imminent rise to fame.

Certainly, his predatory instinct in the penalty area should earn the plaudits, after hitting the target with 61% of his shots, and the youngster has also proved he is willing to take a pot-shot at goal by firing in 20 shots from distance, adding four goals to his overall tally.

Lua Lua is certainly a player to watch for the future and, at the age of just 19, the striker has time in his favour. Don't be surprised if the African forward continues his journey and moves away from Essex sooner rather than later.

Thank you very much Tony. Certainly if he wasn't playing thats a sign. Perhaps the announcement is being kept to this week in order to compensate from Saturday's performance! The emphasis in the description seems as much on his outfield skills as on straightforward goal poaching. That seems the sort of person Robson is interested in.

If we assume that news of the Toon's bid on Friday was kosher, it is possible that the deal has been struck but can't be announced until the club can issue a general Press Release on Monday morning.

Public companies must make key information available to all shareholders at the same time, and carefully avoid what is known as "selective disclosure".

The fact Lua Lua didn't play yesterday could be another indication that this is where we are - on the other hand, I believe he was substituted in his last appearance so he may simply have been dropped. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Ahh. Thanks. I didn't realize the bit about uniform disclosure and how that would delay an announcement. The Colchester manager seemed to be giving the impression of "Over my dead body" about the transfer so I expected a Yes or No more quickly since the bid was in on Wednesday I think.

Get him straight in the side against Orient - that will sell some tickets.

He can't play against Orient......he scored a hat-trick for Colchester United against QPR in the last round and thus is cup tied for the Worthless anyway

Apart from the fact that he's probably Cup tied...
