Great away days

This is being done on NUFC.COM or somewhere but it may be a laugh on here. Anyone got any great away day memories? Actually, Mungo must have millions of them... Cup outings, football special trains, getting wee-ed on at White Hart Lane?

Has to be the semi-final v Spurs at OT. Meeting in the pub, Susie assaulting the bizzies, nearly shaking the stadium apart, Dougal missing the goals cos she couldn't bear to look! Back to the pub, lasses missing the train and coming back for more beer......... An incredible day from start to finish.

Or how about an awayday to Swansea. Leaving the toon midnight friday, got down to swansea (buckets of rain) game posponed at 230pm. Made it back to the toon for last orders and a good battle at Tiffanies. Them were the days.

I wouldn't necessarily call them 'great' memories, but the match that really sticks in my mind was the 1974 cup match against West Brom and the Hawthornes. Jinky Jim Smith replacing Terry Hibbett midway through the first half and then turning on the style big time.

Left the ground after the game (won) and found that all the busses had been attacked and the one we were on had had all its windows smashed in.....Old Bill couln't give a stuff and told us to get on it and get out of the town.

All the way back to Newcastle on a bus with no windows, it rained and it was March if memory serves.........not the best of memories, but that kind of experience sticks in the mind!
