Most hated player in English Football

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

In a poll run by Football365, the most hated man in English football is our very own Alan Shearer. Brilliant for two reasons.

a) He must be doing something right b) We have something to wind other fans up about and get them more pissed off about him.

Second was Frank Lebouf and third was Roy Keane!

It only annoys you because you see it so often, if you never saw it it wouldn't bother you? Trademark, your lot have loads of them I believe.

Beckham cam way down the poll and so did Phil Neville, so it begs the question b who submitted entries for the poll ?

It rather begs the question, as Mags do we give a toss?

Ans. Nope.

Al is still England's no.1 striker

Couldn't give a flying monkey's nob about the outcome. I hope he is more hated at the end of the season when he has scored against them all.

"His pigging POXY goal celebrations", not in the same league as those from Cole (1/10) and Becks., not to mention YMO!

This bit gets me

"The result seems to indicate that the public blame Shearer rather than Neville or coach Kevin Keegan for England's poor performance during the summer tournament. "

The evidence for this? Well, an easily manipulated online voting poll. Pathetic

Like the thing was hijacked by loads of Mancs and Makems. The funniest thing is the Mancs saying it proves they are right that he's a t...t. I pointed out that a poll would no doubt make them the most hated team in England which presumably, using their logic, shows they are t...ts.

Answer me this then.....ya whinging gets!!...over the last 3 years how many times has WGB been booed, abused, had effigy's of him burnt, had hang-man's nooses held aloft for him, had his family publically slated and threatened etc etc?...Naaaa WGB is not the country's most hated player...we ALL know who really is.

LR

The main reason you placa-Mancs hate Al has got nowt to do with his goal celebrations, and lets face it he'd be hard pressed to think up 300 different ones, more the fact that he turned you down in '96 when your sheer arrogance led Heath fans to asume Taggarts signing of Shearer was a formality. But no, Al pledged allegiance to his home town club which admittedly is an alien concept to you lot.

Taking the Shearer '96 situation lets give it a little twist.

After leading England to the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup and claiming the golden boot on the way LR is the hottest propety in English football. He has a choice to make. Does he sign for Liverpool the reigning champions and the domestic games dominant club where medals galore are assured? Or does he sign for Manchester United, his home town team who he has supported since he was a child, who after a period of ( relative ) obscurity are now challenging for honours again?

Who would you have signed for? Honestly.
