A momentous week for the O's, with that great win at Reading, and a plum draw in the Worthington Cup against the Premiership leaders, Newcastle. The two-legged tie should be a great chance for the squad to show their potential as well as a money-spinner for the club. The dates have been confirmed as Wednesday 20th at St James's Park, with the Barcode Army visiting Brisbane on Tuesday 26th. Let's hope that the O's put up a good showing in the first leg, and force Bobby Robson to put out a full-strength squad for the return, so we can see the likes of Davizas and Shearer at Brisbane Road.

O-Net will have a full preview of the game, but in the meantime, the latest Back Page is now posted. The subject of transfers and the possible effects of the latest EU interference in the game has been splashed across the papers lately, and I've put forward my thoughts on the matter, which are not completely in line with the currently accepted wisdom.

McGhee warns Robson Date: Wednesday 13 September, 2000 Time: 11:05

Leyton Orient defender David McGhee has cheekily warned Newcastle boss Bobby Robson to expect a tough game when the Third Division side meet the Magpies in the Worthington Cup.

Robson was at Brisbane Road to see Orient turn in an unimpressive performance against Scunthorpe on Tuesday night but McGhee insists that display isn't an indication of how the O's will fare against Newcastle.

McGhee said: "I heard that Bobby Robson was waiting and I can tell him that it will be different against them. We're not going up there to lose - we're going up there to win."
