Just heard it on capitalgold, and it's in Sporting-Life:

Gianluca Vialli was on Tuesday night axed from his position of Chelsea boss with immediate effect after just five games of the new Premiership season.

Vialli held a meeting at 5pm with chairman Ken Bates and managing director Colin Hutchinson.

And while the club expressed their "admiration" for the Italian's achievements during his two-and-a-half-year reign, they concluded that "in a wider context it is in our best interests to seek a change of direction".

No successor has yet been appointed and "for the immediate future" the current staff, led by coach Graham Rix, will take charge of the team.

Just watched it on Sky News. I can't believe it. Him and BR are the only decent guys in management, real gentlemen. They reckon Zola is the favourite to take over. I suppose though that nothing Bates does should surprise us. Shocked!

Ken Bates strikes again. The charm of a jackel, and as deadly as a tarantualla. Seems a panic measure. Sincerely hope Chelsea go into freefall. And now a convicted sex offender in charge. What a club.

What really amazes me is that they're sacking him right before their first European game. Not very smart without a replacement ready. Capitalgold is reckoning Venables will get the job. Then again, in going down the list of possible replacements, they also mentioned John Gregory. Now that gave had me laughing out loud!

We should start a competition and post the results on the Chelsea BBS. Contenders to take over.

Rix the Paedophile

Venables

Hoddle

Zola

Wilkins

Wise

Gregory

Strachan

Gullit

any others?

I think you get the idea!

Ok lets make that a jpg

Venables went through my mind as well. I'd be surprised if they went for another player manager..Sdaly, I think they'd win a lot under him. Hoddle is out of contract at Soton relatively soon.. Anyway, isn't it nice that it isn't us being first to sack our coach?

Seems he lost the players' respect. Well respected in football and in the country in general, but 22 overpaid foreigners get him the sack.

To be honest, I think this stinks. It's hardly as if he's done nowt for them. FA Cup winners, UEFA Cup Winners, plus one more piece of silverware and all following on from TDO. Just aboot sez it aal for me aboot Master Bates. Tosser.

Master Bates took one long look at the magnificent St James' Park and thought his club was going nowhere.

I thought a scoreless draw with us was a good result for Chelsea!

As mentioned on every Soccer AM 5 minute fone in last season - George Graham to CFC, Hoddle to THFC, and ITK to Saints (he's currently top of the Daily Toon Fantasy league and the best manager by far!).
The last bit of course wasn't on Soccer AM, but if it was perhaps a few more buggers would have joined up (that URL again for anyone bothered is Daily Toon Fantasy Football.

I'm glad he was sacked....anyone that calls his players "chaps" should be shot with shit...

Now then chaps....I've no intention of going anywhere near Southamton other than to watch the lads give them a tonking on Saturday.

My managerial asperations are highre that The Dell.......Hayes Town job coming up soon so I hear!

I actually felt sorry for Vialli when I read this. I dislike Chelsea as much as the next man, but that is largely due to the players and a certain mr. rix.

I thought Vialli was/is a top bloke and was just suffering from his squad not having gelled quite yet and learning each others games.

If you look at the table right now, Chelsea aren't out of it by a long shot. Leicester is the only team out of the top seven, that I don't expect to stay there, and Chelsea is the only team out of the top seven that I believe can take that spot.
