More than 19,000 affected by outage Scott Schwebke / Montrose Daily Press / September 11, 2000

MONTROSE - An equipment failure at a Delta-Montrose Electric Association substation west of Montrose resulted in a power outage for more than 19,000 customers Saturday night.

The outage occurred at 10:51 p.m. and affected DMEA customers in Montrose, Delta, Olathe, Cedaredge and Orchard City, according to DMEA officials. Power was restored to all customers at 11:33 p.m.

The equipment failure at the substation caused a 345,000 volt transmission line feeding the Montrose and Delta areas to "de-energize," according to DMEA officials.
