Coppinger signs contract extension

Excellent news on Ceefax. He's signed for another 3 years and is the least he deserves off the back of 12 goals in the reserves already this season.

Canny business as well, as the effective length of this contract is 2 years before he either signs a new one or gets sold, and Chopra will have come through by then. If he's done well for us, he will deserve the improved contract we will have to offer him in 2 years and would have asked for it anyway, and if he hasn't, we don't have to put up with him hanging around beyond his usefulness.

All academic anyway, as he's a classy player who gives us something completely different. Made up for him.

Got to agree with you there Softie. He looks class and hopefully can only get better!

It's good to know we've got all these young promising lads coming through the ranks. You only have to look at Hughes's performance on Sat to appreciate what a good youth system can mean to a club now adays.

Isn't it nice. All of a sudden the confidence is back in our youth set up and we all see some genuine hope for the future. Looking at our squad we have Griffin and Hughes, Dyer, Gavilan and Kerr, and Cort, Coppinger and Ameobi who have all appeared for the first team. And some of us expect big things of the Caldwell brothers and Chopra.

If all this kids turn out to be top quality players and stick around, we'll save ourselves a heap, especially up front where we have four prospective future strikers.

Not to forget Domi, David Beharall and Stuart Green, while both Shay and Stevie Harper are still young uns (for a goaly that is !)

To repeat what I said before the start of the season, I'm expecting nothing from this year other than to watch some our youngsters come through onto the PL stage. And Bobby is doing a top job of making sure they see some action. The future's bright.
