have you ever seen Tony Schermann's work, Tom (a painter...)?

I think I'll crop some from the top... t

i wouldn't crop. the shape works great with the nose for me, the highlight of a very nice photograph :-)

Nope... where would I?... t

uh, good question. i don't think I've seen him on the net. he shows in the states and europe, though, has books out. anyways, the only reason i mentioned him is because i think you'd like him, based on this photo. he does a lot of shakespeare ideas, with close-ups of faces, done in encaustic.

o well, did my "you might wanna check out..." duty for the day

ps i love the 55 macro. its the best for catching sleeping kids (with a blue 500W tungsten bulb, seems soft enough to not disturb their dreamy sleep...)

gosh i need a scanner!!!

Despite my love of negative space, I would crop this if it were mine, probably to a square. I like the intensity and design (with the diagonal line) with the tight crop.

The blue toning looks nice with this, brings out a cool moodiness that may not be there in color.

Hmmm, a dark, grainy photo with the focus on the hair rather then the face. Seems vaguely familiar. . .

I like the shot. As a stand-alone photo, I think it would be better balanced with a little cropped off the top. The big black space would be great for text, though.

You mean somebody's made a picture like this before? *What A Surprise! *... I'll never show it again (snif)... t

Sorry Tom, but I don't think this is up to your usual standard. I have looked at this several times now and I still can't figure out why you want to concentrate my attention on the lock of hair. Quite apart from its poor seperation from the background it is not a particularly interesting shape and it doesn't interact with the face as part of any formal overall scheme. Perhaps this person's hair is an important part of their self image or personality, but the photo alone doesn't convey that.
