DVD-RAM AS XVCD OR SVCD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hello,

Could someone tell me if they have tried to put XVCD or SVCD contents onto a DVD-RAM disc. I was wondering if by recording onto a 2.6gb disc and taking the disc out of the cartrige you would be able to play it in a standalone player. Is the DVD-RAM disc the same as a "regular" DVD disc? Any info is appreciated

Thanks JC

No, DVD-RAM disks will not play in most DVD players. As for writing SVCD why.. I would only recommend that if you already have the footage, otherwise it would be best towrite 720x480 DVD footage, because it has much greater flexability in bitrates and other good stuff.

JC To do what you want, you would need a dvd-r drive, and they are still in the $3000.00 range. Although suppsedly the raite dvd player will play a dvd ram
