How to make interactive menus on VCD with NERO?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I want to make a interactive menu so i can skip to different chapters on my VCDs. I see you can do this with EZCD creator deluxe, but i have NERO 5.0, and as far as i know i doesn't have a menu option. I was also wondering if these menus will work on home DVD players?

( is there a certain program language the DVD player uses for menues?)

Thanks for any insights

Nero does not do any menus. VCD's and SVCD can use playlists and menus that affect play back control ( PBC ). VCD ca support a subset of control items that DVD's have. Both allow for control stacks, this is kindof like programming, but on a much more basic level. DVD's have enough control space for simple games. Programming VCD's and DVD's is almost undocumented, and without the tools to actually place the control stacks on the disks are worthless.

Nero doesn't do menus so far, and Easy CD is flaky at best so you are best served by WinOnCDPE3.7. Done correctly these menus work on DVD players. Unless you are a complete pro and you need to know every bit that goes into these menus you do not have to be aware of what goes on and the GUI of WinOnCD for example handily takes care of eveything.

Nero does have a simple menu creation. Go to compilation info and click on menu tab. Simple menus can be created to chose between differnt segments ie: playlists. You can chose to have a background image as well.
