Evwning Limey, it's a coolish 27 here, but I suppose it's 10.50pm so it's not that cool. I'm just getting my video ready to tape the game.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Am I right in saying that Hasslebank(sp always causes us problems? (:o|

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Late tackle on Dyer by Hasslebank, very painful, right on the shin. Hope he's okay

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

I`ll just keep quiet shall I? No sooner the word than the deed! Hope Dyer`s OK. (:o|

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Rad 5. ground and the town sea of black n white

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

That was strangely prophetic Galaxy. Can't you just predict a goal for us?

Oh Christ - sorry folks - that one on the end was an accident. It`s my nervous tick again! (:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Started to play a bit then, Good work by Charvet down the right

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

So clsoe, Shearer with a good head and the keeper managed to get a hand on it and claw away

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Sounds as though it`s very physical! (:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

not like the arse chelsea game in the week, but there's been a few trips and the like. It's been scappy so far with no team really settling, which I think is better for us than it is for them.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Twice in the last three mins we've been in a good position, quick break and then the man with the ball has delayed thus losing the impetus. If we could play the ball quicker we'd be in a much stronger position.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Flo booked for a trip on Hughes

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Is Barton playing left-back?

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

yeah and charvet's rb, gallacher is lm and he's switching with Dyer a bit.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Thanks Kegsy.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Phew Chelsea coming back in it and thankfully H/bank couldn'e get under it, I think our lack of height at the back could be a problem. Likewise at corners it means that Speed is better defended against than ususal.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

DON`T GIVE ONE AWAY NOW!!!! Half time would be good now!{:o

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Barton tried to chest the ball on the six yard line, not the bst, then an almighty scramble and ....Don't do that again Half time

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Phew!!!!!!!(:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

According to Rad 5 and Peter Beardsley, poor game, finicky Graham Poll is not helping matters much with constant stoppages. Like Hiro or Kegsy bit apprehensive about lack of height on defensive set pieces, could be one goal is the clincher

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Well we started off pretty well, then allowed Chelsea to get back into the game. 0-0 is a pretty fair reflection on the game. Cordone looks good when he runs with ball but he does remind me a bit too much of cylopse, only he plays further up field. Shearer's having a quiet game and I think he'd b happier upfront with Cort, no doubt YBR will come out with some words of wisdom at h-t.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Yes, I've got live coverage on fox!

Lucky not to conecede just before half time and also a little earler with Haseelwank heading over the bar inside 6 yds. Cordone and Dyer look very good though IMO

Howay the Lads.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

I see the mackems are losing, but we'll drop to second if the scores stay the same.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

We look like we're a bit more interested this half, the gallowgate appeaed for a pen for a push on Shearer but it wasn't that clear, but what buff said is right. Poor game and Poll likes his whistle.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

OOooooooooH!! That sounded close from Solano!(:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Much better haway the lads

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

That was awesome, desreved a goal but christ, can we play football this season.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

AArghhhh!! And again! One of these near misses has to go in soon! (:o) Listen to the Toon Army now!!!!(:o) COME LADS GET ONE IN!!!

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Good head from wor Alan, a much better second half and we look capable, come on.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Amoebi on for Gallacher

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Come on, come on!!!!!! Pressure, keep up the pressure!!! We want a win not just a draw!!!!!!(:oO

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Panucci booked but no idea why, looked like 6 and two threes to me, maybe it was cos he's a young lad or something.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

How does Amoebi look?(:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Good and bad, when he get's the ball he looks confident but looks a little weak when attacking players ie he doesn't challenge, but that's experience. He looks rather pacy though

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Gav on for nobby

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

That;s obviously gavilan as opposed to Gav, sorry for worrying you.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Doesn`t seem to matter how much you do in training - young players take a while to pick up enough confidence to tackle. I remember Michael Owen, when he first started, used to pull out at the last minute - and he`s not afraid to put a challenge in now.(:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

I think I just had a heart attack, stop doing that lads come on

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Gav on??!!!! Depends on how much time they spent in the Strawberry before the match!! (;o)

Flippin` heck - just nearly gave away a pen!!!!! Get a grip lads!!! (:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Sounds like Huges has had to work really hard.(:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

You go little Amoebi!!!!! Shearer, Shearer, Shearer!!!!

Go on you can do it!!!!!

Rats!!!(:o(

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

I think that free kick sums up today's game, pronising but didn't fulfill.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Might have been forgetable ...... but it could also have been a lot worse!

See you later boys and girls!!!(:o)

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Full time, Hughes mom for me but I'm prepared to argue it. Good result considering the injuries we've got half the team. Dabs, Domi, Glass, Lee, Bassedas and Cort. So to continue my negative thread, we're 4 points up on last season but I'm happier that I was. Wahey

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

One positive aspect, I am a great believer in keeping a clean sheet, as I think sounder pointed out the other day, they will work for each other when the morale is high.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Saw the game on TV, thought we played a pretty decent game. I noticed a lot more playing the ball out from the back, as opposed to the infamous long ball up the middle. A win would have been nice but in retrospect, a draw was fair. Defence looked solid until the last couple of minutes. Man of the Match for me was Hughes, Hasseldink was kept pretty quiet. Charvet and Goma both came a close second. Barton was his usual self, though switching to LB today. Gave 120 percent, but is still hung up on the long ball. Midfield were very enterprising but as usual seemed to run out of ideas in the final third of the field. Shearer was Shearer, Cordone will get better every game he plays, Gallagher was all over the place again. The young fella Amiobi (sp?) came on last twenty and looked promising. got himself involved and wasn't afraid to tell the Dwarf to F--- Off while giving him a two hander to the chest. Good for you, I thought. Spuggy came on the last five and did OK. Shay Given was solid in goal, made a couple of great saves and his kicking continues to improve.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Have not had time to read postings or any match reports, but listened to the game on 5live. In the light of the unavailability of Lee,Cort,Domi,Glass,Bassedas (who I assume will add something) and Dabizas all who would have figured in the squad fair performance and probably just result. 10 points from 5 games with an injury depleted squad. No complaints from Thanet

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Pete summed it up pretty well. It's a game that was only going to be won by a mistake. By the last 5min or so I was very happy to see it end in a 0-0 rather than us losing due to a mistake. For once, I really have no complaints about any of our players. They worked hard and more for each other. Some of the hesitation on releasing the ball cost us some good chances. Solano did a fantastic job at stealing hte ball on a few occasions. A few periods of fantastic play from us. If we can start doing that more often and more consistently we'll really be a team to be feared. I wish we'd managed to win, but I still saw so much in this game to make me happy and hopeful. And we didn't lose, putting paid to another jinx. ;-)

Bobby Robson walks on water! Howay the lads!

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

Caught Bobby Robson on the BBC quipping that it was the first time since 18-- that the club had kept 3 clean sheets on the run. Have we, in Goma and Hughes, at long last stumbled upon an effective CB defensive partnership?. Dabs (and Marcellino) are going to struggle to get a game if they keep this up. This is a much better start to the season than I'd ever imagined. Bobby Robson well deserves his Manager of the Month.
