Sky?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Hi all,

Hear from a work mate that Toon v Chewsee match is on sky which equates to fox here in Oz. Just looked up skys website and no news on todays (tonight our time) televised game.

Can anyone confirm this?

Not quite clear what your asking Nige - if your asking about Sky transmissions in the UK, there is no live Sky match being shown today.
Hope that helps, but suspect it doesn't.

According to nufc.com its on live in Australia(Fox sports).

Not on here in England but im just leaving for Stamford Bridge to watch the beamback of the game! Last year i was at it+when they won, at the end i was standing like a statue among all their fans singin that shitty 'keep the blue flag flying'song. I dont think i cud handle that today ;-)

Thanks lads,

Why no sky coverage in the UK on todays games? Seems strange. I'll certainly stay up for the match (even though working tommorrow) to see if it's on the Telly if not I'll listen to it at that sham of a website .co.uk.

By the way received my new away strip in the post yesterday. Like they say clothes to maketh the man ;-) I'm wearing it now, hopefully starting tonight It'll be a good luck garment. Howay the Lads.

The Chelsea match is being advertised by some of the pubs in Washington as being on satellite today...must be that Norwegian chanel I think.

Nige,

Other than at the end of the season, they don't show live games here on a Saturday when the majority of the program is being played - to avoid hitting the crowds (that's the theory).
We have to rely on MOTD for highlights only.
Two PL games each week are held back to be televised live - one is played on the Sunday afternoon, the other on Monday night.

Thanks Clarky for the info. I know about the Sunday/Monday matches we get "Ford Super Sunday" here too on Fox Sports. So does that mean the season opener Charlton v Man City was not televised in England? It was here.

I seem to be getting more confused as this thread goes on!! Hope it IS on the Telly. Anyhow speak to you during the match thread with or with Telly coverage, just downloaded Realplayer 8.

Howay the Lads. Sneak peek ;-) Toon 1 (Speed 34), Chewsee 0

Nige, the rest of the world get 2 Saturday matches generally. Broadcast via satellite. 1 live and 1 tape delay(except when NH has an early kick off, then we get 2 tape delayed matches cause it would make too much sense to delay the NH game another 2hrs and actually show another match LIVE.). Plus the Sunday and Monday Sky matches.

Hi Ciara,

In Oz we generally get one Saturday game, Sunday game and Mon night game all live on Fox Sports, we also get a midweek wrap of the weekends + Mon night action. I take it you get 2 of the Saturady games, that is magic! Do they show Newton Heath every week? Sounds very painful. Are there a million closet ManUre fans in the US like in Oz?

On a side track in Thailand (where myself and Mrs Nige honeymooned) every second local had a Manure or a Liverpool shirt on! I feel that the EPL is becoming more and more popular worldwide with cable/ satellite tv and the web. Clever mareting indeed by the EPL indeed. I remember when the only coverage of the Toon was when I used to buy my 3 month old copy of Shoot! magazine religously with my pocket money every Thursady morning in the late 80's.

Ae you planning to stick around to join the match day thread?

errrr..no. Just got back from the pub actually. ;-)

Yeah, Fox started with the weekly NH games last season and look like continuing this season. There are a few NH free weekends, but not many. The good thing about that is I've been getting more sleep and saving a bit of money not going to the pub every week! I refuse to pay cover charges to see the same team every flippin week(unless it's NUFC, of course). BAd thing is, I don't see nearly as much footie as I'd like. A couple season ago was great, they actually showed different teams each week so you did get a pretty balanced view of all the premier league. Of course then I was moaning cause WE weren't on enough. I'm just never satisfied. ;-))
