Edgar Allen Poe book

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I have a book by edgar allen poe which I can find no information about. It is a brown leather book, maybe 4" by 6" in size. It has the title "The Raven" in gold script type lettering on the cover. It was published by Thomas Y. Crowell and Company, New York. No date is given, but it has an owners Xmas inscription dated 1908. The first inside page calls the book "The Raven and The Bells". It is 24 pages in length with several blank pages at start and end. It contains both poems. Any information on the history and value of this book would be very helpfull. Thanks for your time, Al Stokes.

We have the same book and are also trying to date it. Let us know if you find anything out. Ours has the number 35 on one of the blank pages in the front. We'll do the same. We're headed to the University Library to do some research on it. Many thanks.

I have a very similar book, as well. The cover is suede, the title is embossed on a gold box. It has five blank pages and then a page with a picture of a many relaxing in a chair with the quote, "I betook myself to linking fancy unto fancy". The page opposite is a sort of title page, The Raven, Edgar A. Poe, Thomas Y. Crowll Company New York. The next page is the usual type of title page. It has no dates. If anyone finds out anything, I would also appreciate hearing about it. I will continue to do what research I can.
