This month at SecondMoment ( http://www.secondmoment.org ), an online magazine for applied statistics and analytics, we are featuring an article entitled Electricity Load and Price Forecasting Using Statistical Methods and Models. It was submitted to us by Dr. Michael Smith of University of Sydney, who at time had no knowledge of the current situation here in San Diego. Nevertheless it raises some interesting questions regarding the ability to anticipate and manage volatility in deregulated utility markets. We welcome your comments.
