I've come to another realization about y2k

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Just like people who believe in a flat earth, or that Man never landed on the moon, some people will not accept that y2k was never a big problem. Anything computer related that is bad is blamed on "y2k". Some people like king of spam are still dazed and confused and grasping at any excuse to try and "justify" there behavior.

My next question is: How long will this continue? Will my great grandchildren have to endure net spam about the "y2k cover up" in 2057?

Better yet, will there be an official "y2k tinfoil" group like the flat earth society?

People sure can make you say "hmmm".

Answers

Almost everyone who prepared for y2k knows it's over, Super Polly. Contrary to what you and cpr say, the King of Spain already said back in January that y2k was a non-event.

You're operating under a false assumption. Just because a person thought the available information about y2k last year made preparing for possible problems a good idea does NOT mean they are still expecting those problems to happen!

-- (y2k@is.over), September 07, 2000.

Super Polly: (sounds like some good stuff to fix my boat with) But at least you can tell he grows tired of the topic.

cpr: "Can't Possibly Rest" But very consistent.

Spaniard: Somehow mystically finds his way back to the lost forum as though he has been through a time warped worm hole for 9 months and suddenly wants to catch up and chit chat/babble bout "y2k" and what it meant to "me/us".Figgin' nonsense!!! The spaniard ran and hid like most of the rest, though I do give points for(maybe)not holin' up with the rest of the cowards over at the SLEZ.

And all of a sudden everyone is supposed to gufaw and say "The King Is Back,The King Is Back!!!" Bullshit!!! If this crap were sooooo important where was he 6/7/8 months ago? Oh I'm sorry, must've been a newbie and couldn't run a search or inquire on Lusenet, but knew enough to debate y2k???

Sorry spaniard,I call'em as I see'em,and BTW I myself was a doomer, big time, and took my lumps as did many others for many weeks on end after rollover.I am not one of your former nemises come back to haunt you, just a guy who took a stand and was very wrong, but at least I did it honorably.

Agreed.

But what about the people who continue to insist that there was a problem for which to prepare?

Andy Ray

capnfun:

Gawd!!! For the last frigging time, I have been HERE:

Y2K Fans Discussion Forum

And until somone posted a link THERE to this "spinoff" TB2K forum (without actually stating what the link was to), indeed I was not aware that it existed.

Frankly, we are all having a GREAT discussion over at

"Suppose Gary North wrote like CPR, and vice versa -- would this have affected your Y2K perception?" http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl? msg_id=003lKb

Thank you for not contributing. Moron.

KOS,

It's really none of my business but how could you NOT know this forum was here? EVERYONE knew this forum was here.

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), September 07, 2000.

Debra:

Well, I sure wish that I had known YOU were here. Do you like to mudwrestle?

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), September 07, 2000.

King of Spain, you really should know who you're talking to before you hit on them. Does it matter to you that every one of the women you've hit on is married or has a SO? Do you know that your actions are inappropriate? Do you do that in real life?

-- (Netsc@pe 6.0), September 07, 2000.

KOS,

If you were paying attention you would know because I already told you.

I have to go with capnfun on this one. How could you NOT have known this forum was here?

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), September 07, 2000.

you're not still on about y2k

-- richard (richard.dale@onion.com), September 07, 2000.

OK. Whoever acts in the capacity of SYSOP, or system manager, for this forum should certainly be able to verify that my royal IP address has never been seen here before last week. Because I never linked here until last week. Because I didn't know about this place prior to clicking on the link at "Y2K Fans" last week. Because nobody told me.

First everyone DOUBTS it's really me ("Oh, KOS never used that e-mail address"; "KOS wouldn't say that"), now it's disbelief that I have just found the "spinoff" TB2K forum ("But you must have known, don't you watch the commercials on CNN?"). Gawd.

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), September 07, 2000.

Netscape

Zactly what I've been saying for a long time - KOS is an internet pervert. He's even hit on some boys at times. I remember a 'Dana' the he hit on - Dana was a boy and did not appreciate it one bit. Did KOS learn?? Don't be silly.......

His Majesty must've been abroad at the time of the last firefights of the old bomb then. {I'm not sure how you got to EZ without directions from the the old bomb}.

You missed some lively rumbles over censorship issues. Pity, they may have been up your alley.

Do the words 'should Flint be banned?' ring a bell?

-- flora (***@__._), September 07, 2000.

I believe he explained that he got to the EZBoard forum via Ed Yourdon's own links at www.yourdon.com. This was most likely the reason that he was not aware of the announcement made on the old TB2000, which can be found here, and the "banning" debate that ensued, leading to the creation of this forum.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), September 07, 2000.

Thanks for bring me up to speed, hmmm.

Everyone should cut him some slack IMHO -

'Cept Deano. Best couple since The Bickersons!

KoS, it's been a long strange trip. Some {most?} are a little punchy.

-- flora (***@__._), September 07, 2000.

flora,

Hopefully you remember how nasty the likes of KOS, AndyEOD, a, hardliner, and others were towards us pollies last year. Anytime I ever contributed anything to a discussion (most always good news from the banking sector) it was always met with some hateful remark.

I'm glad the lil' pervert came back. Now if only Andy, a and hardliner would pay a visit.........

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), September 07, 2000.

Deano,

My heart's bleeding. It was an interesting time, with the 'deadline' folks treated each other in ways I hadn't seen since junior high school - where everything IS life & death {or seems to be}.

I still think you were cutest couple, though Flint & Milne are a close second. I loved one of their last 'debates' where Milne spluttered 'unmitigated' twice at him in one paragraph. Ah, good times.

Wipe that tear away, you ol' teeny bopper you.

-- flora (***@__._), September 07, 2000.

FLINT WAS BANNED?????????!!!!!!

Gawd, of ALL the people who EVER posted at TB2K, I can't think of anyone that I would have judged LEAST LIKELY than Flint to be banned. (Unless, perhaps, there was an extreme shortage of disk space. Flint's posts did get a little ... shall we say "verbose"... But one could say the same for multi-redundant mudwrestling inquiries.) Unbelievable.

I guess it makes "discussion forums" easy to manage when everyone is reading from the same page, which is apparently what Yourdon and the sysops at the EZ forum had in mind. Pretty obvious, I'd say.

(I do sometimes wish all forums mandated a minimum IQ standard, so annoying flies like Deano would not be in need of constant swatting.)

Thanks for the link to the past, it helps me get the picture a bit better....

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), September 07, 2000.

flora,

Not looking for sympathy honey. Just a chance to rub it in a little. Remember, their remarks were not aimed at you. If they were, I think you'd feel the same as I. A 40 year old teeny bopper? YIKES!

Spermboy

Flies love shit bonehead.

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), September 07, 2000.

Coupla points:

I should clarify that the "y2k was never a big problem." statement refers to post 1/1/00. (after all, not everyone can be a big brain like me!)

KoS: If there were IQ requirements, you might not make it in (although the computer might think that you misplaced your shoe-size in the "IQ" box)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Deano: You have to give the King of Sperm credit for being a consistant dip$h|t anyhow. This is the guy who claims some people add nothing to the discussion after asking "do you mudwrestle" and signing it "aol.cum" umpteen million times!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

-- Super Polly (FU_Q_Y2kfreaks@hotmail.com), September 07, 2000.

As a long time lurker on the old forum I recall the hundreds of posts by KOS. After the 10th or 11th time he solicited a female for mudwrasslin his act got real old and he took on the persona of a disturbed pervert with one hand on the keyboard and the other groping in his crotch area for something to grab onto. Around the middle of February 2000, I recall him posting a reflective statement regarding his personal mis-read on Y2K and then poof, he disappeared. At the time I felt that the KOS poster of pre-rollover was simply another persona created by a long-time forum regular. His February 2000 manifesto convinced me that his KOS masquerade has come to an end. Now, after all of these months KOS has returned..I doubt that he ever left.

-- I (h@ve.spoken), September 07, 2000.

I:

I wasn't on ANY Internet forum during February 2000. And I did not come here until last week. But other than that ... quite accurate!

KOS, my timeline may be somewhat inaccurate but your post in question was put up on the old TB2000 forum a few weeks after rollover, was it not? This forum did not start until later if I am correct.

-- I (h@ve.spoken), September 07, 2000.

KOS:

You missed a good time. Personally, I am banned from everything that Yourdan started. O'l Ed and I had a few words in a few different sites on this very subject. It is not a great toll. I don't really want to post in those places anyway. I consider it one of the high points of my year.

Best wishes,,,,

Folks:

Please note, Anita was a big supporter of EZ board:

I enjoy the flexibility of EZBOARD over Lusenet, but it's apparent others don't. It's fine if it never gets used much. There were only perhaps 1 in 100 threads on TB2000 that interested me. So...it looks like we now have TOO MANY alternatives. Can there ever BE too many alternatives? -- Anita (notgiving@anymore.thingee), March 04, 2000. :^)

Note that I did register there. Ed told me I was banned [email]. Same way, Chuck told me it wasn't true. Never tested it until last week. Yep, banned. Won't trust the word of those folks again. I think that I mentioned this on Poole's site before I left for the west coast.

The reality is that they are what Paul [the pig farmer] would call Morons. If you were interested in posting there, you could come up with weekly email names and addresses and register. It is easy to adjust IP addresses. For me, I don't have the time or the interest. Their advantage is that no one cares. True of Ed's other sites. As KOS has mentioned, they are dead.

Best wishes,,,

Z:

I'd forgotten all about that forum I started on EZBOARD. There were about five of us who started alternative forums after Flint and others were banned from the new TB. This one is the only one that got any traffic, so gravity won. It was fun to set up, though. Some day I'll go back and see if it's still around...maybe modify it to reflect a particular topic that's meaningful at that time.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), September 07, 2000.

Anita:

Some of the folks around here have become, well you know.

I hope that you know that this was a joke.

Best wishes,,,,

Z:

I really HAD forgotten I'd started that forum. Joke or not, thanks for the reminder. I wonder how long those things stay up with no input.

I hadn't realized you were banned from the beginning. Weren't you the one who had some posts disappear and asked WHY? [Must have been someone else. I can't keep up with all the bannings there.]

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), September 07, 2000.

Have to Stand up, on this one. Met original KOS , on a long and winding road, two years ago? He greeted with me kindness and encouragement. May have been a false persona, that soul intercepted me. I will listen closely to, listen to ,if the now KOS is the same.

-- Heartbeat and ear (closeto@theearth.com), September 08, 2000.

The only thing "we" know for sure is that KoS is a web-tv user.
