Is anyone else failing to access the Journal or the Evening Chronicle's sites?

If not would someone post the Toon articles on here please!

Thank you!

Me too, some sort of password protection. Probably doing some new fangled remote update or the like.

I've had problems for the last 2 days, it's only just down the road from me as well!

I am also failing, as usual. I love the chron and the journal especially since it's free.

Damn Internet can't even bring me the local newspaper. Forced to read the exploits of Tynedale R.F.C in the sports section of the Hexham Currant Bun. ;0)

Glad I'm not the only one!

I've e-mailed the Web Administrator to find out what's going on. I'll post any answer I get.

I couldn't get in either. Perhaps they are doing the same thing as the Grauniad - requiring that you log in then they can bombard you with stuff. I never logged in to that nasty Grauniad - honest! Even though Rik's news search listed articles from it.

Sounder - not sure if it's the same Grauniad site you're referring to, but it's definitely free to access their www.footballunlimited.co.uk/ and you don't get bombarded with anything . It's pretty up to date and in addition there's plenty of good links off (eg. to the excellent Fiver, or to those brilliant stick man cartoon reports that I've forgotten the name of).

Journo's still down, must be having major problems up there. We are top of the league and they can't get their web-site up, lost hits!

Received the following response from the site Web Administrator:-

"Our ISP is having difficulty with our server. While fixing the problem, they have secured all the sites.
Apologies for the inconvenience and normal service will resume shortly."

So, pleased to report that they don't appear to be planning to make it either a subscription or log-on service.

I haven't read the eye-witness reports yet, but The Journal reckons we were comfortable winners last night - praising in particular the 3 Frenchmen in the back four, YKD and AS.
Of AS, BR is quoted as saying "He was outstanding. Alan held the ball up well and his movement was good. He got his 200th league goal which is a phenomenal achievement. I think it's a relief to him that he's reached that target. You have to realise that it's 20 goals a season for 10 seasons playing at the highest level, and he missed two full seasons with injury. The best thing is that he's not finished yet - he's only 30 and there's a lot more to come".
Bobby refused to overplay The Toon's League leadership, and joked it was the wrong time of the season to be top of the table.
