Sol Campbell

I know this may be a bit irrellevant if transfer fees are scrapped, but would anyone think it would be worth while making a pitch for Sol Campbell in light of the following statement.

"Spurs boss George Graham has again revealed that he is resigned to losing Sol Campbell on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season."

I know that everyone thinks that Manu are a sure in for the player, but I would hate to think NUFC didn't at least give it a crack. I would also hate to think what Manu's team would be like if they hade Sol and Stam in the centre of defence.

Personally I think there are better defenders than Sol Campbell out there. A couple of seasons ago he would have been worth having, but at the moment he looks like he has lost any talent he had.

Rio Ferdinand would be a much better addition.

I think Sol is suffering from his uncertainty at Spurs and his uncertainty within the national side.

Who knows if we have a decent season we will be a more attractive move for many players within the premiership.

At times he can look classy, but mostly he's caught out of position and has a Dabizas-esque desire to lurch forward with the ball if he sees a bit of space in front of him...and then lose it.

YBR would bring out the best in him, but his salary would be daft money I reckon.
