one time a guy sent me a dozen roses from Indiana (I'm in VA)..one time my bf (then..we since broke up) called just to say he loved me. I thought that was pretty nice.

On my birthday I got stuck working a night shift at a coffee shop and at like 3am, my friends all walked in with a birthday cake and sang happy birthday through the drive thu (I could hear it on the head set) and inside the store. I almost cried about how happy I was.

Well, at the time I was going out with someone else, but I was getting to be really good friends with this guy, Chris. He asked me to his school dance, and I agreed to go, after I had asked my other boyfriend if i could (he was hesitant), and the next day Chris sent me 6 red roses. I thought it was so sweet so I broke up with my boyfriend that night.

Too bad that son of a bitch Chris is such a fucking asshole now.

I was talking to a friend of mine about books and told him I had never read Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass and that another friend of ours thought I would enjoy reading Emily Dickenson. So.. a few weeks later I got a package from Amazon.com (wihch freaked me out at first) and inside was Alice IW/TTLG and a very complete works of Emily Dickenson.

Given me their respect, their love, their compassion, their understanding, their encouragement and their endless support and adulation - and never once tried to get me in bed. I know I sound like a greeting card but it doesn't get any better than friendship, and it's a helluva lot more heartwarming than calling up the local florist.

A close friend (male, but that's irrelevant) remembered me mentioning a couple of books I desperately wanted to read, and got them for me for my birthday. Which was 9 months later.

my friend made me sandwiches shaped like my name. So i had pieces of bread cut out in A - I - S - H - A shapes. That's a lot of bread. Well, it meant a lot to me.

I have experienced one really random act of kindness. My friend and I were driving somewhere and on one of the streets, there was a man selling roses. These two guys in the car ahead of us bought us roses from the guy! What made it so sweet was that there was no agenda. They didn't ask us for our numbers, or flirt with us, they just wanted to make us smile is my guess. They appologized that they couldn't get us each 3 roses (we had to share the three) then they waved and drove off. We didn't even get to thank them.

My boyfriend wrote me a poem. :) He also moved from the Florida Keys back to Tampa with his parents and his bitch-face sister so that talking to me would be more coinvienient and more often. [I don't live in Tampa, but his computer is there and phone calls are easier]

well, I remember two ones from this year. back around february, I got a $15 gift certificate for amazon from someone I emailed back and forth with. it was quite a surprise since it wasn't a special occasion or my birthday..nothing like that. just out of the blue. I emailed him, thanking him, then I asked why. he said, "because I heard you liked shopping at amazon so I thought, why not." aww...

also, there was the time near my birthday in may when I showed nash [an icq person I had only known for a few weeks] my amazon wishlist since I guess he asked to see it or something [not to hint for him to buy me anything], but he did!!! it was just funny since he didn't really know me well at the time as he does now and it was sweet. he didn't even know the musical group he ordered me. he just asked me what thing I wanted the most [before I knew he was going to buy me it]..awww again!!

It's corny as hell, but oh well... A best bud online, after listening to me complain about some jerk I went out with, said he didn't deserve me and that no one is good enough for me. I guess it was the way she said it... it was just perfect at the right exact moment. I don't know if I actually believed it... but it made me feel a lot better.

Oh lord. :) I've been hearing that same thing WAY more than I'd like to lately.

my best friend and i have the same birthday. she rules for lots of reasons, this is only one. for our birthday she spent a month working on a desk calendar for me - "things to be happy about." so maybe it sounds generic, but all 365 things in the calendar are specific references to things i like or things specific to my likes (i.e. cheese, smelling the beach out the window of a car, sharing a birthday with a friend you love.) she gave it to me the day before i left for college. . we're going to college like 10 states away from each other. damn, i miss her.

My boyfriend (at the time) was long-distance and one day he sent me a 3 page long letter telling the reasons he loved me, how special I was.. and etc.. I've never felt so special. He still means alot to me, although he'll never know.

I'm responding late to a bunch of these cuz I was offline for about 2 months. But... The nicest thing anyone has done for me is give me a computer. My brother gave me the computer I'm on now which saved me from webTv hell. Oh, and don't feel bad; I don't have that "need to shop" either..
