Beach Reopens After Sewage Spill New Haven area beach goers get a little break today. The beach at Lighthouse Point Park is reopening today after being closed following a sewage spill Thursday at the Morris Cove treatment plant. The pump failure sent 200-thousand gallons of raw sewage into 60 nearby homes. Health officials say its once again safe to swim in the area while the home cleanup continues. State Representative and Morris Cove homeowner Chris DePino says one of his priorities in the next session will be to seek state funding to rebuild the pumping station, which has broken down in the past with the same results as last Thursday.
