Handsomest Man in the Universe

Who is he? And don't be saying "my boyfriend" or anything like that unless you can back it up. We're talking about physical beauty, not the inner kind, okay?

Don't scoff (or okay, go ahead), but I think I'm gonna have to say Ben Affleck. Even though he also looks like he's not a very nice guy, he really does have a very beautiful face. I have to admit it.

Ricky Martin, hands down. When I first saw him, my jaw literally hit the floor...How can any man be that beautiful? It's just not fair! I never had crushes on any celebrity type, not even when I was a teenager but now I find myself buying magazines and taping stuff off TV just because he's on there. Yum.

Can we say during such and such time period? Because some of these guys are just knockouts at a certain time of their lives and still hot and all after, but not as, you know?

Adrian Paul as Duncan McLeod in The Highlander: The Series, the years before he cut his hair.

Gwen, you're not trying to say that Ben Affleck has beaten out Paul Rudd in heart, are you? Say it ain't so!

I would have to pick Rob Lowe. I really don't think he could ever find a girl who is prettier than him.

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

I will always love Paul Rudd more. But Ben Affleck is handsomer.

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

No way, Paul Rudd is way more handsome than Ben Affleck.

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

Me! I'm at the beach about every day so if ya wanna see for yourself, I'm at the jetty at Avalanche. James

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

oh brother...

I agree with Maggie. Paul Rudd is better looking. But at least you didn't say Matt Damon.

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

Um, who's Paul Rudd?

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

Russell Crowe! His foto graces my locker at work...I'm so Jr. High!

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2000

Go ahead and laugh, but... Gabriel Byrne. That man is sex on a stick.

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2000

I have'ta agree....Paul Rudd is a cutie!

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2000

Paul Rudd was in Clueless, 200 Cigarettes, The Object of My Affection, Cider House Rules, and a bunch of other stuff.

1970s Paul McCartney. GUH.

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2000

Gotta go with Russell Crowe, regardless of the fact that he chose that ditz Meg Ryan over me.

He'll learn, baby.

after watching Lady Jane this weekend, I might vote for Cary Elwes, circa 1986.

But I think the definite answer is Chow Yun Fat.

I mean. Seriously.

Wow.

John Taylor. And Johnny Depp.

(Also, speaking from firsthand experience, Ben Affleck IS a prick and a half. I spent time with him when he starred in a friend of mine's moderate-budget film "Glory Daze" (on video, but don't bother renting it, it sucks), and Ben was unbelievably conceited-- and this was back when no one knew who he was!!! I can only imagine the size of his ego now...surely he must spend most of his time outdoors where there is ample room for his cranium.)

Seconding Kel's votes. I saw Johnny Depp at the VMAs last year, and *twack!* Jaw, meet floor. Wow. John Taylor is stunning. And this from a Simon fan, no less. :)

Simon is sexy. Simon is attractive. Simon is beautiful. But "handsome"? Well, I'd have to say the Handsomest Man in the Universe is Harrison Ford.

-- Anonymous, September 08, 2000

I think the Simon from the 80's was quite good looking. The Simon in 2000 looks old and tired.

I think the Handsomest man in the Universe is The Rock or George Clooney.

Dwanollah - you and People Magazine have the same taste in men!

Harrison Ford was the most handsome about ten years ago. Now his beauty is slipping. Just like Robert Redford.

Now, George Hamilton has been gorgeous forever and will probably stay that way until the day he dies! I covet his tanned skin - I need to find out what sunless tanner he uses now and get some of it for myself!

Kid Rock is sooooooooo cute!!! i allmost dyed when i saw him on mvt last nite! nobody is cuter then him.

-- Anonymous, September 08, 2000

Suki, I think George Hamilton had his skin permanently darkened like Michael Jackson had his permanently lightened.

-- Anonymous, September 08, 2000

hey, I'll second the Clooney and Ford comments. Yum-MY.

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2000

I have to add: Cary Grant, Guy Pearce and Lenny Kravitz.

Sean Bean...okay, I don't really think so, but I love to say his name every chance I get. My crush goes back to high school. I love me a bantam little man... with an accent and a social conscience. He's tiny TNT. He's Bono. Everyone laughs at me, but my crush on him only cools, never dies. All he'd have to do is hum a few bars of With or Without You and I'd put him on my handlebars and take him wherever he wanted to go. I have deeply disturbing dreams about Russell Crowe, but I think I'd be ashamed to be seen with him... he's a backdoor man. Bono is my Front Door Man.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2000

backdoor man -- Ha!

Okay, I'm gonna quit that now.

...but the little girls understand.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2000

I would have to say Wesley Snipes or Larry Fishburn, they're both equally yum. Does anybody remember that Oriental-looking guy in the Gillette commercial from 1998? He was something else, I still think about him...

-- Anonymous, December 03, 2000

I am partial to Scott Speedman (on "Felicity"), Johnny Depp, and Sting. Mmm...

Andy Garcia...hominahominahomina
