Two local towns hit by outages Tewksbury and Townsend residents lost power over the weekend due to weather and electrical problems.

Stormy weather yesterday caused a Tewksbury transformer to burn out on Rogers Street, robbing residents of power between 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Mass Electric officials were able to fix the transformer and restore power. A few dozen residents were affected.

On Friday, an electrical connection in Townsend failed, causing 96 residents to lose power. Fitchburg Gas and Electric opened a main circuit to fix the connection, causing 1,935 residents to go without power. Power was restored at 8:15 p.m.
