Power outage puts 2,000 in the dark FROM STAFF REPORTS

BERKELEY -- A wet electrical line that fell in Richmond knocked out power Sunday to 2,000 homes and businesses in Berkeley and the north Richmond area, a Pacific Gas and Electric spokesman said.

About 1,000 customers lost power around2:30 p.m., while the others lost power near 4:30 p.m., said Jonathan Franks of PG&E.

The recent rains and the dust that collected on the power line may have caused it to fall because of the weight, he said.

PG&E expected to have power restored to all customers sometime after late Sunday, Franks said.
