milk

Does milk taste different to you? I remember when I was a kid in elementary school and milk break came around. I couldn't wait to get my 1/2 pint of milk. Cold and creamy and.... I don't know... somehow it tasted soooo good. It was thick and rich. And it clung to the graham crackers. Now it just runs off. Now it tastes like water with flour in it. Same brand. What did the government do to it? James

It sounds like you might have switched from full Vitamin D to Skim. Either that, or you've gotten ahold of a wimpy cow.

Response to food

I guess it tastes different to me because I used to like it (although I was always picky about freshness) and now I hate the taste of it. I don't drink it for many reasons.

Maggie, I feel the exact same way.

I love regular milk. It makes me feel ill, unfortunately, so I alternate it with soy and skim. They're not too bad, but plain old dairy milk is the best by far, IMHO.

I found out through my own experience that if you have terrible cramps, and you drop milk out of your diet, it cuts the cramps in half. Maybe it reduces the lactic acid buildup in the muscles, maybe dropping the hormones that are in the milk helps, but it really works.

You don't have to stop eating other dairy either. Just milk. Weird, huh?

When I was pregnant all foods started tasting different to me. I never could stand milk, but suddenly it was one of the few things I could tolerate. Milk, tomato juice, oatmeal, fresh citrus. I'd eat three whole grapefruit every night before bed. That was my diet for fourteen weeks, till I got over morning sickness. I still shudder thinking about that hellishness.

I never quite figured out if I reverted back to normal or just came to assume the new tastes were normal. Now I like milk, and oatmeal, and tomato juice. But the citrus has dropped by the wayside.

Mary Ellen, sounds like your body needed those foods. My best friend could not eat any kind of fish, ever, until she was pregnant with her first child. She craved fish constantly throughout her pregnancy. Your body lets you know what it needs...

I'm so proud of myself, I can now enjoy skim milk. I was scared to death to drink it. I was raised on 2% and drank 1% since the minute it was available in the stores. But I was always afraid to try skim. Now I can drink a nice tall glass of it. Tastes yummy. Gives me less guilt when I eat a box o' cookies with it...

I keep my fridge turned up high, like on 9, because I hate cool milk. It's gotta be ice cold, baby.
