Stevo, Thanks for your kind words in wishing our Boy`s Club success on Saturday night, put it this way, coffee mornings, car boot sales, guess how many sweeties in a jar etc are off the agenda for the forseeable future, we have made a killing. Good turn-out for the kids discos on Friday and we pulled in 650 for the Searchers, turning away about 90 without tickets. They travelled up from a gig at sunny Bournemouth (Galaxy) and they gave us 90mins, well it was a football club do!!, they were superb and are welcome back anytime, its hard to distinguish between Mike Pender and Lionel Blair for looks. The tattie box bar was a seething mass, at 12.45am even the golden oldies were taking hooch and vodka sauce onboard. Got its drawbacks at times up here, but one thing we have which to me is unique is the lack of ageism shown, Over 60`s, under 20`s , nae problem, they all mix. That`s it till next week-end (Jays Thread), presentation night for under 16`s, treble winners this year, 6 of them being offered!S! Forms by Peterhead and Highland League outfit Fraserburgh. With the amount of money awash in the game, we are back to Stevo`s observation re the real grassroots of the game. I have just wrote a letter to the SFA re alleged tapping of our young uns, and even at this level the way the Senior clubs treat the clubs who to my thinking have been instrumental in preparing a youngster during his/her formative years to enjoy the game is abysmal. Simple really 2 points worth remembering for the future, (a)without refs you aint got a game(b) without volunteers you aint gonna have teams. Bosman, Abolishment of Transfers, all well and good as long as the money or partof goes in the right direction, there will never be a better time to get things right and put football in the UK on top of the heap, okay we will still do the sponsored walk etc but there comes a time when the most enthusiastic of volunteers, says enough is enough.
