How to make self starting slide show CD???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Any software out there that will let me create a slide show photo CD that will start by itself when loaded in a player? Autoexec.bat files I know, inf files are a mystery but it seems that is what is required.

Since nobody else seems to want to answer this, I'll have a bash, but I've only made a few Autorun.inf files. The finer points are still a mystery to me too.
I take it that you want a slide show that autoruns under Windows, not a proper Kodak specification PhotoCD.
You'll need to get a piece of slide show software that can be started up with a list of slides, or a directory, to show.
Put this software in the root directory of your CD, and then create a text file called Autorun.inf using Notepad or similar.
All you need to put in the Autorun.inf file is the following:

OPEN=slideshow.exe /parameters

Where "slideshow.exe" is the name of your software package, and "parameters" are the specifications of the first file or directory to be shown, (the details of this will be down to the individual slideshow package that you use).
Happy burning!
