Confirmations not confirmed....and disqualifies confirmed!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Until yesterday my 71k scores on Aurail appeared in the standings as confirmed (A green YES under the column "confirmed" should mean this...I guess....) This morning I found an email saying I've been disqualified....ok...too slow (crappy sound!!!)....but so.....who, and why the hell my score was confirmed first ?!?! Who are the judges...?!? No names in any of the KoA pages, not even in the rules one!!!

Anyway....I've been given more time....thanks.....I played the game again, and submitted my score at 1:00 GMT+1 (2/9 morning)....the e-mail said....well...I forgot...I read it at office (where I can play Canyon Bomber, but not a shooter like this)...the results page says until midnight (my midnight?!...if so...I've exceeded.....) ...midnight CDT!?! I don't know what does it mean...but I should still be in time...)

What a mess....

Now you take a decision....If I can make a suggestion, noone of my group should be eliminated.....if we want to keep to this tournament a kind of fairness....

The suggestion that Cicca has suggested has been submitted to Chris Parsley myself - I think that's the fair way to go - and this is coming from a person not playing the tournament...

CDT = Central Daylight Savings Time. During this time it's -0500 GMT, so Midnight CDT = 0500 GMT. After some point in October it will become 0600 GMT.

Cicca, I really wish you wouldn't had ranted here, I asked you to keep it with me, and I would work it out if you couldn't submit in time.

Now, to backtrack, Cicca's recording was confirmed, by me, to playback to the score posted, and appeared fine, so I confirmed it. I was then told by Gameboy and BenJos that the recording was seriously lacking in speed, to the point of 70% top was the speed. I took a long time to waver in dq'ing the recording in the first place, as I had confirmed it myself, Cicca. But the recording wasn't even anywhere close to speed, so I had to. Then, I debated with myself ALL DAMN DAY LONG as to what to do about you? I didn't feel right to remove you from the competition, no matter what anyone else had to say about it. Even when I was at damn work tonight, I still racked my mind about the issue. (So, again I wish you wouldn't had ranted). I had planned to come on here tonight, and do what gameshows do all the time when something happens outside of the players' control, and invite the player back, and in this case, to remain in the competition. Your score, providing it works within speed constraints, is in time, and would be enough to go into 3rd place in your group, eliminating Frankie from the competition. But as to that, would be unfair, and I will allow all in group D (I think is your group if I remember right) to remain in the KoA. I have asked for the device that checks for speed checks so that this doesn't happen in the future, I am waiting to hear on that request. Round #2 will begin shortly, as that means Pam becomes the only one eliminated from Group E. (The others are 0 players, and will probably be banned from future play {still to be decided}) Also, if we do double elimination??? Did we want to be out in one shot, or two? (VOTE HERE)

PS - Recordings unconfirmed were not needed to be confirmed to decide positions in competition. Any person's recording that made the bubble was confirmed, but if their previous recording was like 1st or 2nd in their group, why confirm at the last moment one a little higher? If it isn't good, they fall back to previous recordings which is enough to qualify.

Chris.....sorry...I didn't understand to keep the matter with you....but ...after all....since the extended time I was given has been publically posted in the results page, I believe other competitors should know what happened, and why I was given 1 day more for submission....

Anyway....two things....1st...I'm pleased my score has been accepted... :-) 2nd...it's fine you agreed to my suggestion (thanks gb for the support...)....Frankie would have had something to comply with his elimination....

See you all on Round #2 (if I won't be out for holiday...)
