Away tactics

Should we be aiming to win more than five or six away games this season, I think so. Are we to have negative tactics for the away games to ensure we get the points.

Robson feels that this an away game that Newcastle desperately need to win. "We expect to win a lot of our home matches and although we knew that we would struggle at Old Trafford we have to look at winning five or six away games, and this is one of them," he said. "That is no disrespect to Coventry or any other team, but away points will determine what we achieve this season."

Given the balance of our playing assets, we are a far better attacking side than a defensive one. After all, who would bet on us keeping a clean sheet at say Arsenal if we went out defensively minded?
I'm sure BR will tailor his tactics to whoever we are playing, but I really hope we don't have any repeat of the game-plan devised for OT which IMO destined us to defeat before we'd even kicked off. This was perhaps the only game so far where I felt Bobby was tactically awry.

Add to that the fact that Coventry's home form is worse than their away form, and it begins to look more and more like a fixture we need to win.

I agree re attacking rather than defending - we have no problem scoring goals. Remember the times when people used to accuse us of being a one man team. Patently ridiculous now - goals have come from all areas, and we always create chances. We look at our worst when we try and defend in numbers.
