The standards today seem to be Firefighter 1 & 2 Certification attained at area colleges like schoolcraft, macomb, and Oaklend.

Furthermore the jobs becoming 70 % medical response so having a minimum of basic EMT will be needed. A paramedic licenses makes you more valuable
