Who will make the better manager? a) Shearer b) Rob Lee c) Warren Barton. I think (c) as Warren has got his badges, spends his spare time coaching kids, and also has various business ventures which will have educated him in spending corporate money. You lot?

Barton may be the safest bet, but I guess Shearer has the potential to be the best. And the worst.

C.

Shearer as figurehead, Lee as the assistant and engine room and Bartihno solid on the training ground....

it's a sure-fire certainty....

Barton, with Lee as his assistant. Shearer still has to prove his management/coaching potential.

If Shearer plays on for another four years, I hate to say it but I reckon we will need a new managerbefore then. I can't see Bobby going on for four years. Maybe if Bobby Lee and Barton took some of the donkey work away from him, but can yousee Young Bobby Robson accepting that situation?

De B

Only in the scenario of YBR being given the ambiguous title of "Director of Football" would Lee and Barton be offered such a position.

Personally, I reckon YBR will retire at the end of next season, maybe a bit later (Summer 2003 latest) and Al offered player / manager role with Lee and Barton in tow and YBR overseeing. Of course, the Board will no doubt piss YBR off and he'll retire to the sunshine, leaving us in the you know what...oh cynical mind!

Impossible to tell.
My gut instinct is that of the three AS has the greatest mental toughness, which is important to succeeding in Club management. However, the real question is does he have the interpersonal and man management skills required - on that score I'm far less sure.

I reckon I'm on the same wavelength as Clarky on this one. There is no doubt about his mental toughness, which as he says is important to success in Club management, but you could certainly cast a doubt over his interpersonal and man management skills.

However, this was also a failure of one Brian Clough at his prime, hence his reliance on Peter Taylor........so a new double act......

Shearer and Lee sounds a damn site more harmonious than Peters and Lee don't you think?

The Cloughie/Taylor analogy could be a good one ITK - Shearer and Lee could a potent double act.
I certainly hope so 'cos that's who I expect to eventually replace BR.

England or Newcastle?
England - Shearer
Newcastle - Lee
