It looks like you are out of luck if you were planning to go to the West Point A-meet this fall.

Subject: USMAOC Oct 2000 "A" meet canceled

I spoke with Cpt. Dale Manry earlier today and am sorry to inform you that the USMAOC "A" meet scheduled for 14 & 15 October 2000 has beencanceled.

The reason for this cancellation is that the Academy has changed its rules regarding cadet participation in extracurricular activities. Cadet participation in orienteering will be significantly reduced this semester (Fall 2000). This leaves the club without the resources needed to conduct an "A" meet.

USMAOC's current intention is to schedule an event for the spring. It is not clear if it will be an "A" meet. They are working on their schedule.

Just as well, really. There has been a lot of encouragement for West Point to move back to the spring anyway, for various reasons. If it takes an Academy rules change to get it to happen, so be it.
