Forest put #5m tag on Prutton

Newcastle and Chelsea lead the race to sign Nottingham Forest's England Under 21 prospect David Prutton.

The 18-year-old midfielder is expected to make his debut for the Under 21s against Georgia at Middlesbrough on Thursday and his displays for David Platt' Division One side have also alerted Rangers.

Chelsea boss Gianluca Vialli, a friend of Platt, had an enquiry rebuffed last season but has renewed his interest in Prutton after learning that Newcastle watched him in Forest's 3-2 win at Crystal Palace on Monday.

(hehehe - I'll beat Rik for his 'reliable' rumours. I spend the off-season campaigning on the BBS for Carl Cort and NUFC sign him. I spent the back end of last season and the start of this season touting this lad and wa-la.

For those of you who don't know about the lad, he's considered to be similar to a young Roy Keane without the agro off the pitch.

I don't know how reliable Soccernet is in regards to transfer rumours etc, or how the are perceived in the UK but usually they don't print articles that are full of crap. So for Chelsea to be interested I'd say the lad must be a very decent prospect.

He also fills a need in our team: a young midfield stopper/ball winner to backup the likes of Rob Lee and Gary Speed. Future midfield partner of Kieron Dyer.)

I'm sorry Tre, but I thought Soccernet only printed stories that were full of crap, or was that team twaddle? Or both? Or infact most of the media services!

He'll soon leave Forest when they aren't promoted again in about two years time and the fee won't be anywhere near 5 million. This is just the normal, we don't want to sell him price tag rubbish.

Canny own goal from Mullins the other night ;-)

Softie I'm pretending I don't care anymore.

Is that in the hope that we'll sign him? Must say, it used to wind me up something rotten when someone played really well in the reserves and wouldn't get a first team callup, but the 20-20 glow of hindsight now shows me that Gary Brady wasn't worth giving a chance to and Stuart Elliott was just too short (and got sent off for Darlo the other night).

Remember how incensed I was when Coppy was "transfer listed" as one of the 13? That whole deal was invented by Captain Bullshit himself, Allan Oliver, and none of those players were formally transfer listed at all. The man is a complete arse.

He had an ok second half for the Under 21's last night. Couple of shots, one he should have kept down from the edge of the area, the other nowhere.
More interested in the young welsh/english/canadian/kraut Hargreaves who came on and eventually (after J.Cole went off) pulled the strings. Plays for Bayern (not made first team yet), mother is Welsh, father is English, lived in Canada in his youth (probably end up supported West Ham then). Wilkinson's done a canny job spotting him o'er there.
And the 2 boro players in the squad managed to seal a sellout at the Riverside as well.

Watched an injury-weakened Sheff Wed team hold a full-strength Blackburn at 1-1 last friday on Sly. Jimmy Jewell really has them scrapping for him.
He had an 18 yr-old called Hamshaw playing on the RW who looked really tasty - I remember him playing for the England U-16's a while back. He looks a real prospect, as does 19 yr-old Alan Quinn who came into the 1st team last season and did well - fantastic engine and gets stuck in; reminds me of a young Lee Bowyer, but without the attitude.
Blackburn were crap and Graham Souness must be well on the way to another heart attack, despite the pundits pre-match saying how relaxed he looked.

Can I just do a Tre and let you know that when we were discussing who we should try for from the relegated Wed team at the end of last season I think I was the only one who said Quinn.

Well spotted Clarky
