Just curious how many people out there are paying their own College/University tuition, and how many have parents who are footing the bill?

My parents are paying... unless I decide to say "fuck you," go to W&M or somewhere, and pay for it myself. I've already hinted at the possibility, but they don't think I'm serious.

Might as well ask... how hard is it to pay for college yourself?

Well, you have to keep in mind that you have other costs too. I'm taking a year off from school before going to College next year, knowing that I'm going to have to save a bundle. My parents are paying for part of it, but as for living expenses, that's probably going to be up to me. Plus, I still have to cover the costs of books (over 1000$ at a couple of the schools) cost of living (10,000$ plus suggested as they don't have residences) plus all extracurricular activities! I'm going to be broke! Thank god for OSAP!

The state of Georgia pays my tuition in full. Woo hoo! If I wasn't on scholarship, I'd have some very, very hefty loans right now. As it is, my parents pay my living expenses (rent, utilities, groceries and such) for one semester, and I'm supposed to foot the bill for the second semester. This worked fine last year because I actually made *money* over the summer (what a concept), but this year I had to take out loand. So I'm $3300 in debt, which isn't bad for undergrad.

When I go to graduate school, though, I know I'm going to have to pay for it completely on my own. It's not that my parents aren't generous (they are), it's just that they have no extra money. If it weren't for my scholarship, I'd be going to community college and living at home.

my college tuition is payed by a few sources: the US government (yay for pell and seog!), oberlin college (who gave me a 25K grant for this year),and various banks who are providing myself and my parents with low interest loans. subsidized while i am in school. (stafford and perkins loans.) so yeah. it's allll good.

My father isn't footing the bill per se, although he said he would if I wanted him to and he does pay for my books and I think he said that if I'm accepted to Stanford and decide to go there (I'm only applying for the hell of it/to see if I can get in, I actually want to go to Cal - I'm talking about transferring for my junior year next year, btw, not applying as a frosh) that he thinks his mother would want to pay for it, although my tuition is basically brought to me with thanks to my grandfather because he bought me a bunch of stock when I was born and it happened to do really well. So that covers my tuition and living expenses while I'm i
