Apparently Bobby Robson has taken a leaf out of Professor Yaffle's book, and complained to the FA that the season is too long, and we don't have enough really good players to win the Championship. He's formally requested that the league season is curtailed now, thus qualifying us for the Champion's League 2000/01. He's hoping that the additional pre-season will allow us to find a Centre half who knows his arse from his elbow, and also give AS the chance to shake off those nagging aches and pains.

Latest word from the FA though is that the beknighted Alex Ferguson has put in a counter claim for the season to last as long as it takes for them to win.

A wag here in the office suggested that 38 games usually does it......

LR, As Man U only have one decent defender, perhaps it could be sugested that they go for a couple or three of our fine players. We have a great Centreback in Marthelino, along with full backs Serrant and Charvet, Both better than the Neville sisters all available, I'm sure Robson would do a deal with Ferguson if pushed as we are a little short of cash.
