cyber gossip

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Gwen's Trailer Trash Forum : One Thread

Okay, I already figure I know y'all's responses to this, but...

Are you at all interested in gossip about online personalities? Which of the following would be of most interest to you: a) Gossip about Prince William or Christina Aguilera, or b) gossip about Pamie of Squishy or Jenni of JenniCam?

Is online-personality gossip more interesting because the people are more "real", or is it more boring because they're less famous?

That JenniCam chick is one twisted bitch.

One of the first online journals I read was Kim Rollins', because I had seen the article in pigdog.com about her, and had to see the train wreck that it was.

I think accessible people are much more interesting. I can always email them and ask what's really going on, whereas the more famous people have handlers, and i just get the feeling that I'll never know the truth about them.

I'm not at all interested in gossip, but if I had to choose, I'd pick Christina Aguilera. My reasoning is that Prince William doesn't deserve to be subjected to such intense and often unfair scrutiny, whereas part of Christina's career choice is an open invitation to gossip and inspection. I don't Pamie, and Jenni is just not interesting to me at all, twisted or not (notable exception: if she's naked (hey, gimme a break, what did you expect?)).

yeah! 'Sugar and Preserves'! Actually, when Kim Rollins broke up with Wil, HE kept a online journal for a while, and BOY was that a trainwreck. Talk about harsh.

As you can tell, yeah, Jonny wants the online-personality gossip. Remember when Jessa's Groove Garden turned out to be totally made up? That was a fireball though the 'community'...

I think Wil's is still up, actually.

I wouldn't care about gossip to do with Christina Aguilera, because she holds zero interest for me. Prince William, on the other hand, holds much interest for me (and lust, if the rumours are true).

Online gossip is interesting, but only if it's not about someone who I consider a friend. If it's about someone I consider a friend, it'd just make me sad. Otherwise, all bets are off.

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a journal that I do not read regularly. The message boards there described in excrutiating detail the breakup of the site's author and his live-in girlfriend, who was apparently notorious on the boards for being a source of his unhappiness. I tried to piece together what had happened between them from the author's posts, her posts, and the members' (presumably his friends)posts. It was cruel and humiliating for the now ex-girlfriend, yet I could not look away (tm Milhouse).

Hmmm, actually, I had the exact opposite reaction when reading that train-wreck. I have no sympathy for the girlfriend, and see her as a whiny, immature, self-absorbed drama queen. While I have wondered, on occasion, whether his journal is for real, I've come to the conclusion that it must be, as he is far less interesting than he was in his pseudo-anarchy days.

I don't think there was anything cruel and humiliating about what he wrote. The chick is a psychopath, as far as I can tell. She's constantly lashing out at people in his forum (or at least she was, I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't show up in there again every once in a while) and I think she enjoys the attention as much as he does (check out her retarded idea for a website).

Yeah, he's not doing anything exciting (dumpster-diving?) right now, but I get the feeling he'll find a way to create a situation that he can write about at great lengths.

Like I said, I'm not a regular reader and had trouble piecing together the backstory. Or maybe I'm still nursing wounds from when my ex publicized our troubles to his friends...Anyway, my point was that it was an ugly scene, made worse by her and the posters' contributions.

None of the above. I have no idea who Pamie, Squishy, or Jenni are...I guess I don't look around much. SHAME on me!!!
