There is one very telling paragraph:

Also, this one confuses me. Are we talking about a well head, a refinery, or a reactor? Anybody want to clue me in? Is this situation possible, or is this just a collection of buzz words?

Also, got any substantiation for this statement? I would think there would be at least one news article if this is true.

One has to wonder if there are not many other Y2K well head chip problems that we are not hearing about that is constraining energy supply.
Certainly, there are an awful lot of strange oil and gas explosions all over the world. I have heard of several in Kuwait and one in the Virgin Islands.
Then, the terrible natural gas explosions this weekend. In addition to one in North Carolina, there was this unexplained nightmare:

By The Associated Press Carlsbad, N.M.--Aug. 20--A natural gas pipeline explosion that showered flames on a campsite Saturday, killing 10 people,
was operated by El Paso Natural Gas Co. The pipeline was 5 to 6 feet underground at the rupture point, said Norma Dunn, spokeswoman for the
company, which is owned by El Paso Energy. Natural gas from the pipeline goes to customers in Texas, New Mexico and California. End.
To further check on my Y2K suspicions, I emailed around to Cafi members in the oil business and just received the following back:
"This was a big issue late last year in the oil industry. It was discussed a lot in the industry, but it did not get too much attention elsewhere.
"This was probably the worst compliant area of the industry.
"However, it did not get the media attention it deserves.
"The issue is that most of the pipelines and refineries have automated and/or remote controlled sensors in some critical areas where the oil flows like
valves and related controls.
"These automated sensors in their majority have chips which were produced a long time ago and therefore were non-Y2k compliant.
"Oil companies and refineries made an effort to change as many of the sensors as they could, but the problem is/was that many of them were not in the
drawing plans and many of them were not recorded anywhere, that is, a good percentage of them, probably as high as 25% were not recorded on the
database.
"Also part of the problem is the systemic lack of maintenance and investment due to the previous years of catastrophic low oil prices for the industry.
"So it is indeed very likely that they will continue to cause fires and accidents in refineries and pipelines for some time, although I think they will start to
diminish with time.
"For example, the recent pipeline blowout in somewhere in New Mexico could be related to this problem, as it was very strange that in the middle of
nowhere the pipe exploded." End.

Yes, I'm out here but I don't have any money with which
to buy gold. The economy in my business has already
tanked and is sinking slowly. I've known we were headed
into a recession/depression for over a year and now a
lot of heavy duty industries are indicating that they see
it too - as evidenced by the employee layoffs at Daimler
Chrysler trucks (3200 people). The company spokesperson said
that traditionally they are hit by a downturn just a few
months before everyone else - so you know what to
expect.
I was not aware that gold sales were this bad at this point
in time. Zog was right about his assessment of gold sales
in his comment a few days ago.

The story is blacked-out because the U.S. and British
governments are behind it. You know that the Clinton
Administration doesn't like the Sudan government - he
bombed the aspirin factory and the Sudan government
has long been listed as "housing" terrorists. Now there
is a report from Cmd. Donaldson that terrorists from
a Sudan terrorist camp fired the missile that took down
the TWA800 and Clinton covered the whole thing up
(right before the '96 election) because he didn't want
to admit that terrorists were able to pull this type of
off in the good ole USA. The only terrorist actions they
want you to recognize as terrorist actions are those
committed by the U.S. government and blamed on the
militias.
If there is a supply line, it's probably paid for by U.S.
taxpayers. This is probably a matter of Clinton's revenge
against the Sudanese government and a favor to China
which has far-reaching implications, which are probably
also part of the plan. It has the potential of "putting
Israel in its place" and forcing them to agree to terms
which they would not otherwise accept. It certainly
changes the dynamics in the mideast and more than likely
sets the stage for WWIII, which Clinton is quoted as saying
he would start in order to stay in office.
Now, the CFR has sent a message to Clinton (?) when they
staged their little exercise about the military coup and
an "incapacited" president. But perhaps Mr. Clinton believes
that he is more powerful than TPTB. And perhaps he is
more powerful with the Chinese army behind him.

Went for #4, but #3 is a close second. Short of
