Harry Potter, Anyone??

Harry Potter books by J.K.Rowling are a hot craze in Canada (and around the world, I hear). Written for the 8-12 year old market, they're being read by lots of age groups... I just finished reading the series of 4 books this week, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Carla (15) really liked them as did Miriam (11)... If you're looking for something that might turn your child on to the pleasure of reading, Harry Potter's a good place to start.

1st book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (at least that's what it's called in Canuckia... 'Mercans like to rename lots of things, so it might be different there :-)

If you've read them, let me know if you liked them too :-)

Aaaah, just have'em read Tolkien instead...they'll be the way- coolest kids in the class once the sheep-shaggers come out with the fillum. Arsh narszsh deebertuluook, etc... ." "What's it got in it's pocketszezzz???" etc etc. "One ring to rule them all, & in the darkness bind them!"

I'd swear the old Oxbridge tripper was talkin' modern politics.

An extra 20 points for whomever can name that "ring"???

"Them" doesn't count, nor does "NWO."

Semi-orc - - estrated shifty power-monger-banker-types????

More like it.

Anyone here remember Mrs. Piggly Wiggly? Seems to be a 60's version of Harry Potter, but I think way, way more benign. I loved those books.....
