Harry Potter books by J.K.Rowling are a hot craze in Canada (and around the world, I hear). Written for the 8-12 year old market, they're being read by lots of age groups... I just finished reading the series of 4 books this week, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Carla (15) really liked them as did Miriam (11)... If you're looking for something that might turn your child on to the pleasure of reading, Harry Potter's a good place to start.

1st book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (at least that's what it's called in Canuckia... 'Mercans like to rename lots of things, so it might be different there :-)

Anyone here remember Mrs. Piggly Wiggly? Seems to be a 60's version of Harry Potter, but I think way, way more benign. I loved those books.....
