Is saying he wants to play in the premiership. Is he a central defender? Any thoughts....beyond the likelihood Barcelona will probably want way more than we can afford.

I thought about this one this morning. A commanding Centre Back and experienced at the top level, aged 29, not too bad. I can see him being better than Helder and with Bobby's Barca connection we could do worse.

Cost and wages would be a problem as would our non-participation in Europe.

This lad Chris Morgan at Barnsley seems to be favourite right now - relatively cheap and they apparently want Gary Brady.

Fuzzy recollections of him on TV are that he's not particularly tall but nippy and gets stuck in.

With Marcelino looking to be on his bike and Dabz seeming to have fairly serious knee injury, we really must get someone in before the ball starts hitting the net even more frequently.

At this stage I'd plump for Ugo Ehiogu - if you'll pardon the exression - but suspect he'd cost about three times what BR has available to spend.

Can't really comment, but I really enjoyed him in 'Death in Venice','The Manservant' and 'Blackmail' was a belter.
