Manager sacking day approaches

hope that isn't what Bobby was anticipating when, in that interview on the weekend, he said "Winning something with Newcastle would be the pinnacle of my career. I don't know whether I have enough time, though..." ((-:

If we win something in the next 2-3 years it'll probably be due to Bobby Robson, whether he is manager or not.

Part of me would prefer him to lay solid foundations (that we have NEVER had) rather than win something in the really short term. The football empires have all been built on solid foundations..

If the Hammers lose to Man United on Satuday, will the press be calling for Redknapp's resignation?

Doubt it. They couldn't afford to sack him!

Its an interesting thought, and interestingly I can't think of anyone who looks particularly vulnerable right now.
Curiously, the Manager who is probably under most pressure is Lucca Vialli. Other than Lucca, I suspect the one nearest the door is probably John Gregory.
Any other thoughts?

I would imagine George Graham is under pressure to perform this year more than most. He's spent a bit of money for the first time in a few years and it's not as if he's got the full backing of the crowd.

Good point DB.
I went on one of the Spurs bbs's after they had sold Daveeeeeed, and the bile being directed at GG was really strong. Doesn't seem they'll ever accept him - unless, of course, he were to win the PL for them: a fairly remote possibility.

I honestly think Mr Heed will walk away if he keeps getting stick from the Mackems for not buying big. If you ever listen to the football phone in on Century, you'll know what I mean. They're always complaining about him. It was the same last season and I'm sure he must listen to it now and again. I'll bet he's keeping a close eye on the respective league positions of Manchester City and Everton.
