Ferguson's Agent and Bobby

Agent Dennis Roach has made his peace with Bobby Robson after the pair fell out over Duncan Ferguson's transfer from Newcastle to Everton.

Newcastle boss Robson claimed Roach had "tried to hijack" Ferguson's #3.75million move back to Goodison Park "for his own personal gain".

Roach had earlier claimed that Newcastle had "handled the deal poorly" when the move was stalled by a disagreement over Ferguson's compensation for the remainder of his contract.

Roach has issued a statement revealing that the row has now been resolved.

"After detailed discussions with Bobby, some misunderstandings were clarified and further facts and information were supplied of which he was not previously aware. The matter is now resolved and settled on an amicable basis between us."

>>>>>some misunderstandings were clarified

This sounds like a euphemism for a bung, but as it's wor Bobby, obviously that could not be the case.

Sounds more like a diplomatic way of saying Bobby let him have it with both barrels and Roach realized this guy's got lots of influence in football and it's not really in his(Roach's) best interest to make an enemy of him. Probably. ;-)

Joe Royle is saying in the Daily Mail today that Dennis Roach held up the transfer of Paolo Wanchope. This man should be investigated.

I note that wor Bobby is significantly quiet about whether the matter with Dennis 'Cock' Roach is resolved or not. It sounds like just the same sort of spin he was coming out with before the transfer actually went through. He has to be careful for legal reasons, but the statement can easily be misinterpreted.

The reality, allegedly, was that Cock Roach went on ad nauseam ('detailed discussions') about the fact that his parents were in fact married ('some misunderstadnings were clarified') and then related the fascinating story of when his Gran took him to the pictures ('facts and information were supplied of which he was not previously aware'). At this point Bobby politely asked him to leave and made it clear he would not take kindly to any future negotiations between them, to which he agreed ('The matter is now resolved and settled on an amicable basis between us')

I didn't want to use it, but I did wonder how long it would take before someone refered to Roach as 'Cock'....nice to see I wasn't disappointed.

This is exactly how the lads in our sports room have refered to him for a long time. In actual fact, he is really a bloodsucking leach, but that doesn't fit with him name. If it is possible, he is an even lower form of life than pond life.

I personally think that the whole football tranfer system in this country owes a debt of gratitude to Bobby for what he did and said as far as this tw@t is concerned.
