I heard on some talk show that Mark McGrath of the rock group Sugar Ray was going to be on ER, but his screen test was so bad that they threw away his footage. Anyone know anything about this. He is so hot and would be a welcome addition to the ER.

"He is so hot" is not a good reason to cast someone in a TV series. Then again, Tom Fontana cast Michael Michele in Homicide: Life on the Streets because she was "fuckable." On the gripping hand, Michele has been a casting disaster for both Homicide and ER, so I suppose that illustrates my point rather elegantly..

McGrath was supposed to guest in the second-to-last episode of last season, ":Such Sweet Sorrow," as a consultant psychiatrist named Nadio. That's why there's a dangling pointer to a guy named Nadio in a scene with Greene and Carter towards the end.

The excerpted scenes were recently posted to alt.tv.er; a search using any of the usual engines for "cut scenes" will probably turn them up.

I garee with you both. Alicia, I agree with you Mark McGrath is cute, but I also have to agree with Mike. From what I heard, he was not the best actor and thus his scenes were cut. Plus, I read the scene and though I would have liked to see it, it does sound a bit pointless. I would have been great though, if he had been on, IMO. Hmm, Mark McGrath and ER, two of my favorite things...:)

I had heard that he was cut out because they needed room for the surprise GC reunion, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure how long they were hiding his appearance...if it was a last minute thing or not, but sorry, I'm glad GC was on instead...maybe they'll bring him back again for something else since they cut him out. I could be totally wrong about this though.

As much as I like Mark McGrath, I was so happy for that last scene with Doug and Carol, that I'm happy they cut him out for that. :)

Go to www.deja.com and there's a discussion group under search and put in 'cut scenes' and click on search then click on the box that says alt.tv.er and it'll list them. I don't know the actual address that would make it easier to get in. Sorry. Maybe someone else knows.
