Difference between STsi and the XTsi

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MINOLTA USERS PAGE : One Thread

What are the basic differences between the following Minolta 35 mm SLR's: The STsi and the XTsi?

Is one better than the other? The STsi only seems to be available in Canada. Is it a discontinued model?

How is either one of them rated in comparison to the Canon EOS Rebel G?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am a novice in this field and am considering purchasing the Minolta.

To have complete detail on any Minolta specs go to Minolta web sire at www.minolta.com and everything is there. But to let you know th Xtsi is higher in teh Minolta "family".One of the big difference is the XTsi has a metal lens mount & the STsi a plastic lens mount (wich i don't thrust...personnal opinion)

I recently looked at the ST and XT as well a an HTsiplus. The HT seems to fit between the ST and XT. Does not have the date feature of the ST nor the automatic start up of the XT but it has the larger focusing grid and other XT features. I was told that the XT goes through batteries quickly. Probably due to the auto start feature.

I did not know about the plastic vs metal mount mentioned in an earlier response. I wonder if the metal mount would have solved the problem I had with my 400si (see question -- lense won't reopen)
