Ah, but how did we arrive at the mystical (and restraining) limit of 13?

Anyway, here goes, in no particular order (and sticking to album tracks):

Fall on Me, The One I Love, Electrolite, Radio Free Europe, Perfect Circle, World Leader Pretend, Let me In, Walk Unafraid, Monty got a Raw Deal, Maps and Legends, Orange Crush, Welcome to the Occupation, Swan Swan (and a hidden track, making fourteen: Nightswimming)

-- green (, August 21, 2000.

hmmm... 1.crush with eyeliner feedback(a 7 minute live version) on the moon(a tasty live version) mine 5.sad professor 6.why not smile 7.walk unafraid 8.hope 9.i'm not over you 10.ebow the letter 11.leave(album version) 12.nightswimming 13.electrolite

-- jason (, August 21, 2000.

Rockville, Can't get there from here, Get Up, Country Feedback, Star Me Kitten, Find the River, Kenneth, Be Mine, Near Wild Heaven, E-Bow the Letter, and I guess Why Not Smile. (Low and Lotus came awfully close) Damn that's tough. (keep in mind, thus is the Kent Stevens train of thought, this list will no doubt change soon and often.)

-- Kent Stevens (, August 22, 2000.

mmm.....ive yet to fully agree with one of u far im finding it impossible to narrow it down past 30....leave it with me....

-- ms.Stipe (, August 22, 2000.

hidden track,u say....mmm sly,but i ll allow it!!!

-- ms.Stipe (, August 22, 2000.

1) Country Feedback 2) Leave 3) Nightswimming 4) Find The River 5) King Of Comedy 6) So Fast, So Numb 7) Lightnin' Hopkins 8) King Of Birds 9) Oddfellows Local 151 10) Underneath The Bunkers 11) Daysleeper 12) Strange 13) Let Me In

Well there's my list. But let me turn the question around on you, Ms. Stipe: What songs would you pick, if you had to give all your REM albums to, say, me?! heheheh :)

-- Eddie Yo (, August 22, 2000.

umm, tuffie.......

1.Perfect Circle 2.Camera 3.Wendell Gee 4.Driver 8 5.Swan Swan H 6.Burning Hell 7.End of the World 8.Orange Crush 9.Wrong Child 10.Half the world away 11.Country Feedback 12.Be Mine 13.Hope

That was bloody difficult. PS no typo. You can't see any songs from Automatic. Other contenders - Fall on Me, E-bow, Fretless (Not on an album, but couldn't resist) and Disturbance at the Heron house. Myabe they'd be B-sides!!

-- Jon Kinsey (, August 22, 2000.

god,i asked the question, and IM the only one who cant answer me,im working on it...i mite ring Michael and see what he has to say....(I WISH!!!) i ll have an answer soon...very soon..

-- jen (, August 22, 2000.

"I believe" is a mighty fine choice...but, when narrowing to 13 (or 14)...I believe I just cannot do it...

-- green (, August 22, 2000.

i was under pressure!!!!!!

-- jen (, August 22, 2000.

id say Jens come the closest to mine...but im still not 100% sure...god,so many to choose from....i need MORE time!

-- ms.Stipe (, August 22, 2000.

1. The Wake-up Bomb; 2. Crush with Eyeliner; 3. Losing My Religion; 4. Fall on Me; 5. Everybody Hurts; 6. At My Most Beautiful; 7. Tongue; 8. Country Feedback; 9. Leave; 10. E-Bow the Letter; 11. Find the River; 12. Lotus; 13. Electrolite (with a 10-second pause, before leading into Zither, still on track 13).

Yeah, I know it's a pretty commercial sounding album - most of the songs (like 11 or so) were singles, but those are the songs I would like together, and I had to make sure I wasn't just choosing 13 from NAIHF. My only question is why 13? Has there ever been an R.E.M. album with 13 tracks? I think they're superstitious, ok, time to shut up...

-- KarlOS (, August 23, 2000.

Sorry, I've changed my mind...

1. How the West Was Won and Where it Got Us; 2. The Wake-Up Bomb; 3. New Test Leper; 4. Undertow; 5. E-Bow the Letter; 6. Leave; 7. Departure; 8. Bitterseet Me; 9. Be Mine; 10. Binky the Doormat (with a brief pause before leading into an untitled instrumental interlude, a.k.a. "Zither"); 11. So Fast, So Numb; 12. Low Desert; 13. Electrolite.

Now THERE'S the ultimate album! :)

-- KarlOS (, August 23, 2000.

y'know, that seems kinda familier....

-- jen (, August 23, 2000.

-- Jon Kinsey (, August 24, 2000.
