Converting JPG images to MPG?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I'd like to make a Vidoe CD using my adaptec software. The end goal would be to store my still images (*.jpg) on the video CD so we can view them using my DVD player. What S/W can I use (free would be great) to convert them from JPEG to MPEG or is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks!

Hi,

I use Panasonic Encoder Plug-In version together with Adobe Premiere program.

Open all the .jpg images you want to make for .mpg file in Premiere - don't forget to use KEEP ASPECT RATIO and determine how long you want the image displayed in the PREFERENCES dialog box within Premiere.

Then one by one you put the image on the timeline, and to be more accurate every file within the timeline choose "FLICKER REMOVAL" on the video clip option.

Add the transition and music as you like.

Final, save it with Panasonic Encoder, and don't forget to "OPTIMIZE STILLS" in the EXPORT MOVIE SETTINGS.

Another VERY easy way is use WinOnCD, but the result is unpredictable when playing the VCD on a stand alone player. Also we can't add transition and music. But if you just want to view it VIA your PC, there'll be no problem at all.

I hope this help.

Sunar.

Hi

Just a teaser for you. I have uploaded a sample mpeg file (24secs) onto my webpage at (http://go.to/vcd.by.nt) which is made entirely of stills (jpg).

I am working on a tutorial which should be ready in about a week or less depending on my work load.

Cheers, NT
