Big Brother

Ive thought BB has been mostly so-so with some interesting bits. Tonights episode was surely some of the most fascinating TV ever! Like a classic episode of a soap but all damn real. Everything just collapsed round Nick....I just cant decide whether to feel sorry for him. Great moment when Mel went in to him+ when emotion nearly overcame him when talking to the BB about what people might think. A one way ticket to an obscure country is the order of the day me thinks.

Fabulous programme tonight! I felt really sorry for Nick - and I have hated him from the start of this programme. I hate seeing anyone in that sort of distress - even if they are a total shit!

Much respect for Craig after tonight as well - he showed some amazing communication skills when sat around the table conducting the discussion. I always had him down for a rather sweet but stupid Scouser and I have completely changed my opinion now.

Not sure what will happen now that Nick has been thrown out though (for those who don't know, BB tells him to leave and he was escorted out in a blacked out vehicle at 5pm tonight, to stay in an un- disclosed London hotel) as they have to keep the numbers right! Also they didn't show the numbers for the voting tonight so it is possible that Craig and Nicola will get a repreieve this week!

Facinating Stuff!!! (;o)

Totally agree about Craig. He deserves a lot of respect for the way he handled things and is the most likeable of the bunch. I reckon the final 2 will be him and Mel- shes seems nice but a bit too self controlled +'cool' a lot of the time. I think it was great of her going into Nick after and talking with him....brilliant bit of TV that bit!

Well that was exciting! Sat and watched last night`s episode with Yelli and Pete. Hubbie, who still hasn`t missed an episode, was full of cynical comments and continues to patronisingly tell us how we are allowing ourselves to be conned (along with the rest of the nation). Yelli, at the other end of the scale was a study in anxiety! As the programme continued, she was squirming on Nick`s behalf, and despite having really disliked him, immediately identified with Mel`s actions. I have to say that I lost my scepticism about Nick being a plant - his discomfort was so convincing, and I found his humiliation quite difficult to watch.

Interestingly enough, Craig was the first one I would have liked to have seen leave the house. But over the weeks I have actually found him more and more likeable. He handled yesterday`s meeting with great aplomb, unlike Darren, who`s attitude seemed to be very `me, me, me`. Can`t make my mind up about Thomas`s reactions, he was either trying to control his temper, or feeling embarassed that he had contributed in bringing matters to a head. Of course, you don`t know how much of the `meeting` was cut, but I thought it showed very good judgement by everyone, that once Nick had been exposed and actually admitted what he had done, they were at pains not to continue the humiliation.

BTW by this time next week, I shall be probably be posting the nominations for eviction from our happy home! Will it be Yelli or Pete - I can see them falling out big time over this! (:o)

I like Mel less and less the more I watch it - she seems to be desperate for male attention. Its laughable.

Still think Anna will win.

There is some rumour that they are going to add a new contestant to house, but surely not?

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

BBS news website is saying that if a contestant is disqualified (a la Nick) then they are replaced by a new contestant.....

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

I read that too, but they couldn't possibly bring a new contestant into the house due to the fact that they are completely closed from the outside world and anyone bought in would have watched the programme and read the papers and that would completely defeat the idea of the competition if that makes sense to anyone?!?

I suspect it will just mean that no-one gets voted out this week so there are still the correct number of contestants for the remaining weeks.

I`m thinking of putting my name forward - being there would be much less hassle than trying to watch it at home!(;o)

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

I nominate LR. He's completely out of touch with reality ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

I've never seen a single episode and I quite fancy the idea of shagging a lesbian nun.....*doh* ;))

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

The idea of introducing a new contestant is to get everyone really riled so that they talk about it to their friends and tune in,

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

I was wrong - they are apparently bringing in a "brunette temptress" going by the name of Charlotte, to arrive on Saturday. Tonights voting will go ahead as normal!

This should put Mel's nose out of joint!!!

Yes! Nick has gone and I feel in the bestway possible,It was a sense of relief that the whole nation got to see his demise and see the housemates have their say to him, very satisfying and better than watching just a load of booing from the general public. I agree with Yelli it was difficult to watch his discomfort but also nice to see that you reap what you sew, something that seems to be missing largely from today's society, lots of people go round stabbing others in the back in life and never seem to get their comeuppance,so I did feel it made a fitting conclusion to the whole senario. Hope it's right about a stunning replacement would just love to see Mel's nose put out of joint, her behaviour with the lads is sick making. She really needs some competition!!!!My option would be nichola although she has grown on me more recently,Craig has really gone up in my estimation he seems to be a really nice and genuine bloke who has displayed a control and verbal acumen that I thought was beyond him.By the way did you ladies out there catch that brief glance of Darren in the shower,I think they should provide him with a shelf to rest his tackle on,Thought I was seeing things for a moment, then realised I was!!!!!I want Tom and Mel out next what do you all think ?

-- Anonymous, August 18, 2000

Mrs P.! I was hoping we would hear from you! Darren`s tackle? Nnnnnnooooooo!!! I never saw a thing! That reminds me, I must go and turn off the `freeze-frame`.(;o)

It`s certainly hotting up in there (in more ways than one). I think I will be happy to see her who knits frocks out of brillo pads out. I am finding the sight of her buttocks permenantly hanging out of the bottom of a jumper(? allegedly) is getting on my nerves! Tom I rather like, though I still feel there is a dark secret to come out about him yet. Anna is a hoot, and for an ex-nun, becoming raunchier by the episode. Maybe it actually said X Nun on her C.V. Craig as I said has really gone up in my estimation, and Darren has plummeted, though he does have the odd redeeming feature! Are you and Mr. P still on speaking terms, or are you like Pete and I?(:o)

Afternoon Mrs Pilgrim!

I have to disagree with who you want to leave next - I am rather fond of Tom and I think Mel is alright too, although it does seem that she is almost as manipulative as Nick in her own right. I want to see Nichola out next, and then, depending on what the new girl is like, Darren after that (yes, despite the size of his tackle!) just because he doesn't add any interest to the proceedings and I thought his contribution to the argument was very self centered ('why didn't you show ME those bits of paper?')

I have completely changed my opinion of Craig. I think he seems like an absolute sweetie with a genuine heart of gold. He was so upset that he had been taken in by Nicks stories and he still managed to conduct himself with the utmost dignity when discussing it. Fair play to the bloke, I'd like to see him get the #70,000!

And also, I was pleased to see that as soon as the facts were laid bare around the table the discussion was ended to prevent any further embarrasment for Nick (that is, if we saw the whole thing on the telly) Everyone had their say, but they didn't go too far with it and drag it out for too long.

I think the next nomination day will be interesting because as they get to know each other better they are dreading having to vote for people more and more. The whole 'Nick Saga' will bring them closer together as a group and take some of the intense competitiveness that he was causing out of the scenario. I can't see any real bitchiness between the remaining contestants (again, depending on what Charlotte is like) and I think they will find the nominations very uncomfortable from now on.

I agree with all the sentiments about nichola and she still looks like an anorexic greyhound,I am already assuming she is out tonight. We have always agreed so far and so I am amazed you like Mel her manipulation of the men makes me sqirm and even though I know it's her strategy I can't understand how she can allow herself to be pawed like she is, and how she keeps asking for a massage, I feel like covering her in boiling baby oil!I'm sorry but I agree with what Caroline said in the papers "she is a bitch and a tart" I find her behaviour as deplorable as nick's, only in a different way. Just seen Nick facing the media on Sky news,He says it was just a game plan, but how does he not realise it was flawed right from the beginning,He may have been able to dupe the housemates but how on earth did he think the public would accept his scheming and let him win the money? I also have an uneasy feeling about Tom and I think there is more there,But I want him out because basically I can't understand a bloody word he says ! As for Mr Pilgrim he showed no interest at all for the first week and a half of the programme but I think he began to feel left out of the web conversations and from our home life as Pilgrim jnr. (12 ) IS INTO IT IN A BIG WAY!!!!!! He wanted to know what we were talking about all the time, now he's hooked, but it's the first time I've seen him take such an avid interest in any kind of human behaviour or people watching, maybe there is hope for him yet!!!!!!! We have many major group discussions within the family and it's really good, even if we disagree about the people in there!Keep posting as we look for your opinions all the time.

Well that gave us all a bit of practice for Sunday! There was a true Toon Army type cheer went up when we heard it was Nicola! Party animal Yelli wouldn`t leave the house until after this last episode, and you can bet your bottom dollar (I think it should be your bottom and not mine - see various other threads this week) that she will be back in time for the second episode tonight!

Mel must have had cramp in her face, she was trying so hard not to smile! I`m really pleased that Craig is staying - bless him! Did you hear Nicholas pinch his idea about giving some money to charity because he has a friend dying of cancer?! He needs professional help I reckon! Darren next to go I hope - I`ve gone off him quite a lot. I also hope the new arrival is stunning, and has all the boys drooling over her - see how sweet Mel really is then!

Pleased to hear that you are not falling out over this at home. Pete has mellowed today, having totally overstepped the mark with us through the week - let`s face it, he`s outnumbered!(:o)

Ok.... all the hype got to me and I stumbled across it whilst channel hopping.

It's a fix. Every single one playing up to the cameras. They know they're there. We know they're there. There's people walking round the friggin place with cameras and mic's! The close up pictures prove that! How can anyone believe they are acting "normally"????

I did watch it to the end though..... DOH!

I must be the only person to find Craig the most irritating person in the world, God I even prefer Sada to the Scouse fella. Typical Liverpudlian, hey,hey I'm reallly funny me like. Then as soon as there is any work to do, ( remember the bike ride), erm well it's me knee like, can you lot do all the work for me an' I'll lie in the garden and do nowt like. Did I mention that Liverpool beat us in the 74 cup final. I was 9, my dad took me to the game, we cried all the way home, together. Not being one to bear grudges.(Still haven't forgiven Keegan) I've never been able to stand Scousers ever since. Christ i can't even bear to watch the Tele' when Cilla Black's on the other side. Martym

Geordie

I am not sure how much they do play up to the cameras. Perhaps for the first few days, but now there is just boredom and I thnk they act more normally. They have no idea whether anyone from outside is watching them, don't forget. Or at least that was the case until this new woman turned up. I can kind of imagine her being voted out in the first week. I will certainly eat my hat if Mel doesn't vote for her.

Thank god it isn't obligatory to watch any of that kak. Surely I can't be the only sad git who cannot stand in any way, shape or form, that abomination of the TV entertainment industry known colloquially as 'the soap opera' ? From what I can tell, that's all BB is - a debased soap opera. Utter, utter crap.
