I have taken extensive efforts to avoid this type of thing. They want the information for something - most likely to try to sell me something or put me on multiple mailing lists. Frankly, I object to your use of this board for this purpose.

Considering this forum runs the gamut of politics, religion, people selling books, etc. etc, I don't think this is so far out..... and appropriately titled for those not interested. If you have checked their site, their privacy policy specifically states that your name is not used for any sales purposes.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I agree with Ken.

Could be, but I spend my buck on the lottery every now and then too! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Hoax? Well, what have I lost?

AS an ardent student of Louis Bromfield, I have no quarrel with Sue. NO more than I would take issue with some one else who is also a student of Mr. Bromfield. This is a forum of information and for information is it not. Just because I do not totally agree of certain ways information is shared does not mean you and I should draw and turn at 20 paces. Pull up the corners of the mouth sir. Do what you may, I learned on a forum such as this, a thing call block and delete. And THANK YOU Sue I found the information just what I needed. JR

Don't be naive! OF COURSE it's about selling something. It's about marketing, it's about mailing lists, it's about you giving someone else a foot in MY door. No, thank you.

Sue: I agree. For those who don't want to participate, don't. For those who do, do. Simple. No big deal. I'll check it out.

people act like marketing is the most evil thing on earth. if you don't want it don't buy the darn thing. that's what willpower is for. there are worse things on this earth to be worried about.

This stuff fascinates me. Shows how differently people think. Marketing is not bad (although some people think it is). But a SCAM isnt marketing. And anytime youre promised something for nothing, you can suspect a scam is involved.

My experience and point of reference: Selling Countryside Magazine for over 30 years. Magazine salesmen, of course, are worse than used car salesmen. Were automatically crooks. So no matter what you say, youre suspect. Even if it's a magazine like Countryside, and you're as honest as I am. "Oh, you're selling a magazine? Get lost, you crook!"

But then Somebody comes along and offers a free camera, Or $500. Or whatever. For not doing a thing! And thats okay?

Comon. Get real. WHY is anybody making an offer like this?

Yeah, you can buy your lottery ticket. And I wish you luck. You might even get lucky with Ponzi schemes, etc.

But the odds are so much against you you're better off planting bananas in northern Wisconsin in hopes of global warming.

And no, Sue, I do not have time on my hands. Just couldnt resist this one. --- Jd
