August 16, 2000 Mistaken Test Figure Revised Downward

State education officials now say no more than 54 high school seniors were wrongly denied their diplomas because of scoring errors on a basic skills math test. Department officials originally said almost 350 seniors were affected. The revised number was announced yesterday during a state House Committee hearing. Scoring mistakes by Eden Prairie-based National Computer Systems resulted in 47-thousand students getting wrong scores on their tests.
