Electric company under fire for outages

From the Associated Press

Northern States Power is coming under fire for repeated power outages in Sioux Falls.

Managers at Sam's Club have sent a letter of complaint about NSP to the state Public Utilities Commission.

In recent weeks, stores and homes in different parts of the city have lost power inexplicably for varying amounts of time.

On Friday, the Market Diner lost electricity during the lunch rush. Workers finished up some orders by flashlight then closed for the rest of the afternoon.

Stoplights also have been affected, pulling police from regular duties to traffic control at busy intersections.

NSP says it is replacing a couple of transformers in an effort to solve the problem.
