CONVERTING DAT TO AUDIO FILES

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I am trying to find a free program to convert DAT files to MP3 files or WAV files. I have downloaded VCDCutter from I-On but it is a limited product and I will have to pay. I was wondering if there are any free products because I only need to convert 1 file. If there is not, then I will pay for VCDCutter.

Cheers

First you should get vcdgear from www.vcdgear.org. Convert the dat - > mpeg. Then use Tmpeg to de-mux the streams. You should end up with a .mpa and .mpv. Rename the .mpa to .mp2, you should be able to play this in media player, and convert to mp3 with most windows mp3 encoders.

OR using the steps listed above (dl the vcdguir program). then coveret the dat to mpeg also listed above, but if you use the 'soundforge program (www.soundforge.com), this lets you input mpegs, once its loaded up (about a minute or so) save the file under "save as" and select a "wave file (or .wav) now you have a total sound version for what you want. Its then a matter of using a wav to mp3 converter which are all over the place
