TV and radio broadcasts disrupted by vandal

A man pulled the plugs on the National Broadcasting's TV and radio transmissions at 19.48 yesterday evening. The TV broadcast was resumed after half an hour but both radio stations were out for an hour and teletext transmissions are still experiencing problems.

The man, who is known to have mental problems, slipped into the room containing the electricity circuit board at the National Broadcasting's new Efstaleiti headquarters and cut off the electricity supply to the whole building. It took technicians half an hour to get the back-up system to work.

It is not known how the man got into the building.
